Arrow What Happened???

I've never seen anything like it, but I'd sure like an explanation! Why do some ponds just... disappear! Right now, in the Bonita area, two ponds have just seemed to vanish! What's that all about??? Anyone???

No - our next door neighbors heard from a VCDD Watch guy that one of the valves got stuck - and all the water flowed out into the rest of the system.

Chelsea:

Seriously (not always easy to do here), the draining was undoubtedly programmed. Virtually all the bodies of water in TV are connected in some way to the public-area irrigation system. That's why you may see them watering along the main roads even while it's pouring down rain.

There's a fairly large pond along Belvedere Blvd, just across from the Pimlico Rec Center that has frequently been drained - mostly because of some faulty plumbing underneath.

Forget sinkholes!

All due to thirsty birds this time of year.
