The prices here overall are kind to a senior on a fixed income. Most of the entrees at the country clubs...(except for Palmer and Lopez) are in the eight to eleven dollar range.

The golf on the executive courses only require a trail fee, ($3.50) and we pay those yearly, so it feels free, and for any of you who have not played golf all of your lives, what a wonderful opportunity to play this game and keep your piggy bank full. If you have been lifelong golfers as we are, you know how much money you are saving from "back home".

I have taken art courses at the Lifelong Learning College and I think it is about 80 dollars for a six week course...but OH what I have learned. My hat is off to Nan Kline who has really taught me to capture people in her portrait class. So that in itself is priceless.

I am so delighted at the beautiful...plantings...millions and millions of them along our roadsides and at the entrances of our villages. The flowers are changed out at least four times a year...and maybe more than that...but the trees are trimmed and the lawns are mowed and debris is collected so that it looks so lovely everywhere. We live in a style that in the past only super rich people with an army of gardeners could afford.

I love the concerts on Sunday night at Church on the Square that cost a few dollars. No where could you ever...ever hear such beautiful music for such a bargain price. (For new people, it isn't religious music, it is mostly the classics and talented people from here gather to play and sing for us.) BOY do we have a lot of talented musicians.

No...not a church chior. Sometimes it is the Villages Philharmonic and sometimes other groups of musicians, mostly seniors but are sometimes joined by musicians from the high school and other featured artists who are invited to perform. I think it was originally funded by old Mr. Harold Schwartz because he was a music lover...but I am not sure of that.

Local opera singers are frequently featured too. It is mostly classical music and show tunes...or songs from back then.

It is at Church on the Square at Spanish Springs which is not predominantly used for worship, but mostly for musical presentations. I think it is a church because it completed the "Spanish Village" look that they built to be real looking.

The acoustics are lovely.

Here is a link to the nightly activities at The Church on The Square
http://www.thevillages.com/lifestyle...sp?venue=4#top

If that link doesn't work, you will have to travel through the following links
http://www.thevillages.com
select" Lifestyle" from the top bar
then "Live Entertainment"
then "View Entertainment Schedule"
then "Select a Venue"
then "Church on the Square"

I will attest to Gracie's artistic talents. She does wonderful line portraits.

What made me happy today was confirmation from DH that we will be going to TV Thanksgiving weekend. Other business travels (for him-- fun for me) have kept us from TV since early Sept. Can't wait to get back!!

"Elvis" was in the house when we were at the Church on the Square in June. And yes, he had the whole house a rockin!
