The villages swimming pools
When does it get too cold to swim in the pools?

I'd say, when you have to walk to the pool wearing a speedo, flip-flops, and a set of wool longies. The pools are heated, but the walk can be brutal.

Try this;
Get out of the shower and stand outside for five minutes. If you feel comfortable, go to the pool. Don't let the crowd staring at you bother you. Merry Christmas. Life is good. |

Gracie, as always you made me laugh out loud! Also we wish you and your family a great Christmas!
As stated, the pools never close, and are heated. Wew have used them in Jan, Feb, etc. Just depends how nice the day is. Army Guy

If the sun is shining and the winds are light, I'll go to the pool with outside temps in the 50s. Pool water feels fine (you just need to keep moving and not float on your noodle). Getting out and drying off is the tough part.

65 degrees
Exercise classes and water sports are canceled if it is below 65.

I don't know about water exercise classes, but water volleyball is never canceled by the Recreation Centers. If enough players show up, there is a game.

Pools are supposedly heated daily to 83/84 degrees. So theoretically you could swim daily during the winter months. And there are some hardy souls who pride themselves on swimming daily. But I've noticed you rarely see anyone at the pool unless the weather hits 70.

Advanced Water Volleyball
That's the rule for advanced volleyball(Leagues)! Feel free to call the board which controls the league volleyball. I was speaking for leagues.
I just called the Rec Director and they said that 65 is the general rule for all water sports and exercise classes. I'm out of here as it is a beautiful warm day and everything is open. Pools are great today. No arguing. Better things to do. Russ, who did you call or what league or class do you go to???? |

Hey, I'm just a newbie - I'm looking for the correct info and nothing more, not an argument. Last thing I want to do is head down for an aerobic class or water VB and find out it's canceled. Or worse, not go and find out they held it anyway! I know F16 is big into this so I trusted his comment. Tkret also confirmed this with their comment. Why single me out? I'm just echoing what they said. Why is everything on this board taken as defensive comments? We need counterpoint on here so that those reading can learn from those that know. Russ.
Because you told me I was wrong!! 07 is alone at pool when she does her 50s swim. I do that sometimes too and I have the pool to my self! Like Bare said, below 70, pools are empty unless there is a swimming meet. |

The other 2 aren't wrong! That's the problem. Telling others they are wrong.

I based that on what others have said and who participate on a regular basis in those events.
The problem is that your statement was very definitive "Exercise classes and water sports are canceled if it is below 65". I wouldn't want the many hundreds (thousands?) of people on this site to take that as fact if that is not always the case. I think you'd be surprised how many people get their info from this site. (I know that I've gotten a whole lot!). Now go out and enjoy the weather down there. Sure beats my weather up here. |
