I believe it is not a rec center for the military, it is a rec center with a military theme.

I believe that what's to be called the Eisenhower Regional Recreation Center will probably start popping up out of the ground pretty soon.

So far as I know, it'll be somewhere along Buena Vista, most likely near the to-be-built Evans Prairie Country Club, maybe half way between SeaBreeze and Brownwood.

Speculation, but based on little tidbits heard along the way, plus some application of "logic."

Whatever you do, don't hold me to all this!

I'm anxious to see how the non-military mind of The Villages premier decorator will approach a "military" installation.

Are you sure that isn't going to be a military theme, rather than a center for the military?

Whooooops.. apparently we were all typing at the same time. Swrinfla seems to have it nailed. Sounds great. Will be retro I bet.

I'm betting it will be top quality. Hopefully with pictures and equipment used by the military in the past and present.

I hope there are pictures of WACs. They were my heroines when I was a little one.

The developer sure has a source for subject matter experts, but in most situations, except a few movies that have been done take advantage of folks that know what they are talking about. A lot of folks are into statistics here on TOTV, I wonder the percentage of villages homes with at least one military veteran and better yet, the number of retirees....... This would be a good project, number of military retired, breakdown by officer and enlisted, breakdown by service, etc, etc.. We had a similar thread for a long time, but very inconclusive of course.

Default Military theme rec center

I'm sure the villages will have plenty of resources for decorating a military theme rec center. Personally I think we have quite a few vets here. My husband was a former Marine and then went into army for 30 yrs so we attend the military club and other clubs where we have had the pleasure of meeting many veterans. There isn't a day goes by that I'm not thankful for all they have done for our country and all they continue to do!! Unfortunately, Freedom doesn't come free. Our vets deserve the best and we look forward to seeing a beautiful rec center paying tribute to each and every branch of service. My only wish is they complete it soon so our WW II vets get a chance to enjoy it.

This would be the perfect place for the WWII History Club to change their meetings to.
