Isn't there at least one other female who didn't ask for a doll or girlie stuff? :dontknow:

Red...that would be me...no dolls for me; always preferred toys and sports equipment.

I vividly remember the Christmas my Dad did his shopping at Sonny's Surplus (surplus as in military themed stuff). We got helmets, canteens, ammo belts, compasses, etc. I was probably about 8 years old. I'm sure all that stuff got re-surplused within a couple of years.

Red, I actually didn't ask for much, we were pretty poor (remember I come from da Bronx) and I hated being disappointed.

But I certainly didn't ask for guns, rifles, GI Joe, military attire. I was too girlie!!

Once I asked for a Toni doll (remember you could give her a permanent wave?) and

I got a Clairol doll (instead of a perm, you could color her hair.) That ended my making a list.

Guess it was whatever was on sale!!!

07 -- I used to love going to the Army Surplus store! Got some of my most favorite toys there! Thanks for the memories. Had forgotten all about it.

Kathie -- I'm sorry you didn't get your Toni doll and I just knew you'd be a girlie girl!

Yup!! That's me, all girlie girl... No combat boots for me!!!

Imagine at 20 asking for a Chatty Cathy doll?? :

I was already working and was embarrassed to tell co-workers what I got for Christmas.

I think it was my mother's way of hinting that I talk too much, oh well, some things never change!!

As long as you don't wear diapers requiring changing (Chatty Handie?), I'll ask Santa for a Handie doll.

Nonie ~
Check my earlier email from a few days ago:

I had always wanted a Tonka Truck toy crane, but being a little girl in the 50's 'Santa' kept giving me dolls. :dontknow:

I do recall another one of my sisters, who also didn't want a doll, got a life size doll that had beautiful long hair you could curl and braid. She decided at age 5 the doll needed a nice short curly cut, and that was the last time "Santa" gave one of us four girls something we didn't want.

This year I'm asking Santa for the house I want in The Villages and will let you know if I get it...or another doll I don't want ;D

Barefoot, you may want to rethink that request from Santa. Ya think??

Trav, I hope you do get that house you want. But be sure you don't get the Handie doll instead. I'd plan to return it if you do...

It's not a good idea to give me or any of my sisters dolls we don't want - recall that my younger sister took a pair of scissors to the last one "Santa" gave her.
She then got Mr. Machine the following year, took it apart according to the directions, but never did get it together again.
Think there's a pattern here? evil6

KathieI,
I had a Toni Doll ... cut her hair, didn't like it after I gave her a perm. My daughter now has that doll and treasures it. Who would have thought that would become a family heirloom.

Not a toy but I always wanted a Poodle skirt like the big girls wore. You know those pink circle skirts with poodles on them. Never did get one.

Trav -- At least you guys didn't decapitate your dolls and put ketchup on their necks! It did make a great diorama (but it was a seriously HUGE box) -- dad had to carry it into the classroom for me. He thought it was hysterical. I don't quite remember my teacher's impression but I did get straight As, so I guess it was okay for the French Revolution.

OK OK , so I asked and recieved a JANE MANSFIELD blow up doll , I still have it . I carried it with me when I graduated from High School . took it through College and never once had to ask for a date...Girls didn't bother me as none of them could stack up , if you know what I mean , The only downside was having to get a Village ID for her to go to the pools.........In case anyone wants one for Christmas , you might want to think about it, For some reason the people at Chatham gate won't wave me through. Specially the guys....

Fumar....you are truly twisted. And I love it. Can Jane be retrofitted to instantly inflate via CO2 discharge cartridge? Would be cool to watch. ;D
