Did you play any of the surrounding golf courses. I get defensive about people complaining about The Villages Golf Courses. Don’t like them play somewhere else. Executive Courses are free!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to burst your bubble but the executive golf courses are NOT FREE !!!

Part of your (and my) amenity fees goes toward their upkeep AND unless you walk , there is a TRAIL FEE to be paid for the privilege of riding in your golf cart to play …..

Far cry from FREE I would say …..

Very free as the thousands that don’t golf pay the fee as well. As for the trail fee it is cheap and up to each golfer to pay or not. It can be very free if you walk.

It is free if you walk. Cheap if you pay a trail fee. Great no matter what!

I agree that it’s great. However , to claim that it’s “free” is total BS !

Reasons why it’s not free have already been explained….

Except......You pay the part of the amenity fee for the exec courses regardless of whether you play them or not, so your incremental cost is....well, FREE (if you walk)

Now , if you want to be real technical, you paid for clubs, balls, tees, and a bag. But if you would own a golf cart regardless of whether you golf, then that cost is "free". If you use a cart for exec courses, then you do pay the whopping $4 trail fee a la carte or like $140/year, which is close enough to "free" to be ignored. Lastly, was there a point to this?????

Yes, there is a point to this….

The point is that executive golf IS NOT FREE. “Close enough to being free” is NOT FREE !

I don’t understand why that is such a hard concept to understand !

Read your own post. It clearly illustrates that fact that you ARE being charged with both the amenity fee and trail fees that frankly, should not be charged at all !

Now, if it will make you and the others feel better , you can say that there is no additional greens fees for executive golf…….

So, if I'm understanding you, you're saying it's basically free...

So, if I read this right, you think that the part of the amenity fee that supports the exec courses should be split out and charged separately for those that use those courses? OK, how about the part of the fee that supports pickleball courts that not everyone uses? The Rec centers? The MMP's? Better yet, I don't want to pay school tax since i don't have kids in school. Where do we draw the line ?

Not saying that at all. All I’m saying that the recreational activities that you’ve described ARE NOT FREE….. we all pay for them in part from our amenity fees….

No need to “itemize” as we all have equal access to ALL of the activities.

PS- We have no kids……. We have paid school taxes our entire life. My parents paid public school taxes IN ADDITION TO paying to have 2 of the three of us attend private Catholic High Schools…. So they got whacked twice……. However, there has never been a complaint from us regarding having done so…..
