Default What Is Worse

Snowbird season or love bug season.

I'd rather deal with love bugs twice a year than snowbirds. It's not the traffic, crowded restaurants or the litter, it's the speeding golf carts. My cart does a maximum of 20mph and I'm constantly getting passed in a very unsafe manner.

Are you sure it's the snowbirds?

The "nobird" season bothers me as I am one of them

No matter what, whether some of us are annoying or inspiring, idiots or savants, (full time or part time)
whether we have windblown bugs in our teeth, snakes in our grass or anoles in our frijoles,
I still LOVE it here.

Just saying--- I bet the majority villages residents was snowbirds at one time and for one snow bird to snob another just cause now I'm one of the 90,000 (which would be the majority at the villages at any one time) don't give me the warm fuzzy message friendly town in America!!!

Sure it's not the full timer's with the FAST Golf carts trying to get to their all important Golf appointment? I sure some Long time snowbirds have upgraded but I suspect the majority rent. Renter carts don't go that fast do they??

Hi Joec1947. I was one of those speeders and then it occured to me that speed was not good for safety reasons and not good for my cart. So I too now have a cart that won't go over 20mph and i love it. I often travel pre-dawn and so I get headlights in my rear view mirror and will pull off the cart path and let these drivers by. I do feel badly for walkers because they fast moving carts have to be a little concerning to them. cést la vie

We are not snowbirds and I resent the stereotyping accusation that snowbirds are nothing but a big pain in the rear.

If not for snowbirds and younger people coming here to retire in their 50's and early 60's, it would be a giant, sedate Geriatric Estates. A glorified nursing home.

How in the world do long-time residents think they or their surviving family members will ever sell their homes if only full-time 80-90 year-olds are living here??

great response, ilovetv! I AM a snowbird and I resent the comparison to a pesty love bug!

it seems the op does not want to consider the other side of the coin which would indicate that he is being passed by OTHER yr-rounders who think they are entitled to do what they want to because they are yr-rounders.

now it's time to pass joe's thread in favor of participating in more positive discourse!

Always carry a camera and your Lawyers card with you !!

I do find that people are people no matter what their status is;
Most people here are just fine .

I think the only reason snowbirds leave is they are afraid of our weather in the spring, Lightning storms , Tornado's , etc.
They must fear snow and cold also that's why they come here in the winter .
