How does that Johnny Cash song go...."bad news travels like wildfire; good news travels slow". Two geezers fighting over a parking spot will get a lot more attention than the proceeds of a bake sale held to help the victims of something or other. |

It varies with me. I might have someone thumb their nose at me while driving his golf cart after I say "Good Morning" here in the Lynnhaven area. One-handed, of course. But get a greeting from the next person. And then have a very friendly exchange with someone I know. The thumb flyer was a man I did not even recognize. Just someone I tried to be friendly with.

I’m walking by Judging your lawn!
Only smiling because I’m reminiscing about the good ole days, when steak was 6.99 a pound |

True--but then again, it is true for the rest of the world as well. In my experience Villagers as a whole are much friendlier than the people were where I came from. When I'm walking with a Publix bag in my hand I'm often offered rides by both men and women. Complete strangers. That NEVER happens, and with good reason, just about anywhere else.
That's not to say that you'll never encounter some bitter old geezer with a giant chip on his or her shoulder. But those are a very small minority here in TV. |

I smile at everyone and wave at most. Smiley was my nick name in high school.
