Where can you ask, in a town with a 70000 population, if you can borrow a ladder and Get an immediate reply. Go pick it up and only give your first name. I love The Village and John and wife Kathy. Thanks to you. My son works hard but does not make a lot of money. Your kindness meant a lot to him. My son, on the way to pick up the ladder said " Mom, do you know these people?" Do you think they will really let us use it?" I said sure they will and they did.
Thank you so much John.

Hope, we ALL love TV passionately!!! Sometimes we complain about unsafe golf cart drivers or bad food, but I'll just betcha we are one of the most happy group of residents on the face of the earth. :2cool:

I don't even live in TV yet (bought a villa in May) and I have already had several experiences with kindnesses shown by TV residents. It's quite amazing. I can't wait to move there permanently.

It really is a wonderful community. I'm a city girl through and through. Part of living in a city is not smiling. Since I have moved here, there's not a day that goes by that I can't find something to smile about. Heck, I don't even have to go out. If I'm on my lanai, I can guaranty someone will stop and say something and there's always my dog walkers and their pups to pet to bring a grin.

The kindness here is just amazing. I had no hesitation in opening my home to anyone who wanted to have a full Thanksgiving dinner. I didn't get many takers (well, only Handie to be exact), but there were several who would had they been here. When I've asked for help both here and IRL, someone has always jumped up and offered a helping hand or two or three. I love that someone can stop their cart for whatever reason and at least three people will stop to make sure they're okay. People even pay to run ads that they've found a piece of jewelry. TV and TVers are truly amazing!

Thank you, Hope, for reminding us. And thank you John and Kathy for your kindness in offering your ladder. It is this kind of thing that makes TV and TOTV so very special.

I just bought a house in TV and was there this past week to get it clean and work on the gardens. All of the neighbors stopped by to introduce themselves and tell me if I need to borrow ladders or any type of equipment that I was welcome to- that everyone in the neighborhood lent each other things. I have never felt so at home in such a short period of time. For now I have to settle for being there only a few days a month but in a few years I'll be there full time- can't wait!

When my husband was back visiting for a week or so, he lost his wallet on the first day of his trip out his back pocket riding on the golf cart. A villager of course found it but since we still live in CA, there was absolutely nothing in the wallet to get a hold of him. He noticed that he had a Citizens Bank card and called them. Citizens only had our CA phone number. Luckily I was in CA and the Bank employee set up a conference call with the gentleman. He called my husband and met him to pass it off. The guy said he found it on the golf path open and dollar bills flying down the street. He gathered what he could and started trying to get ahold of him. All $480 was still in the wallet and he appologized for riffling through it to find some contact info. Of course he would take no reward or even a dinner offer so we send him a Visa gift card as a small appreciation after he got home. Only in TV would this happen. A great guy and a great bank that will take the time to find you still in a town with a population of 70,000. Hope to be there permanently in March 09.

With all my own nit picking about this and that, I can't imagine living anywhere else in this world but the Villages. You can't possibly explain this community to others who have not been here without them looking you in the eye and saying to you....you've got to be kidding!!! :dontknow:

The only explantion I can think of is that kindness truly is contagious. It seems that even if you come to TV in a grumpy mood it doesnt take long before your cares seem to fly away and an attiitude change takes place. I have seen it happen quite a few times.
remarkable! ;D

You know I've always been someone who finds the dark lining in a silver cloud. I truly hope that we get to retire there and I have a chance, with the help of people I've been reading on here, to have a second life. You do all sound very kind and sincere. I'd enjoy smiling every day!!
