Default Where did the Buffalo Go

We haven't visited The Villages since 2004 and I was talking to someone about how much I enjoyed the Buffalo. When I went to look up what area the pasture was so i could tell them I think I read a newsgroup that mentioned they were no longer there. Could anyone tell me if they are gone and what they did with them. Did they build new homes in the area they were? Thank you for your help. I love The Villages but we just haven't been able to get back there.

I don't know if this is a fact,....I had heard that someone was bitten by a Buffalo and that they got rid of them for liability reasons.

They are still technically "here", but hidden. I heard this from a reliable source.

I thought they were moved to a location near Amberwood. I believe you can get a glimpse of them from either the 4th or 5th hole, you have to look towards the field near the tee box I think.

It is the sixth hole - the par 5. Some days they are close to the fence but usually they are in the middle of the field.

I've played Amberwood and have seen them off in the distance.

Default We need to write a song/poem about the buffalo in the Villages.

May take me a little time to come up with something in praise of the buffalo in the Villages. That's some kind of poem or song.

Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam,
Where the carts and the cougars play;
There seldom is heard a discouraging word
especially in the Sun
And the sky is never cloudy all day.
Chorus
A home, a home
Where the golfers and the dancers play,
There seldom is heard a discouraging word
especially in the Sun
And the sky is never cloudy all day.
Yes, give me the gleam of the swift urine stream
And the place where no hurricane blows;
Oh, give me the park where the Doggie Doo Run Run dogs bark
And the urine still flows regularly.
Chorus
Oh, give me the holes and the ring of the fours
And the rich greens with their fine grounds;
Yes, give me the mulch where the garderners can grow
And where we do not have to mow.
Chorus
Oh, give me the line where the ballplayers can find homers
The politics is in its proper place
And the hospices below where the sick people go
And graveyards for the departed
Chorus
Oh, give me the speed and the money that I need
To retire where I can feed at Cattle Baron's
Then give me a cart so I can watch parades
And go to the mart
And the wild preserves to roam.
Chorus
Yes, give me the home where the realtors roam
Their business is always alive
Especially in spring
In these Villages
Oh, there let me live till I die.
So I do not have to fly
So I will be a Frog
To avoid the smog
Chorus

After William and Mary Goodwin's 1904 version of "Home on the Range".

Great minds think a like. Seems I was composing at the same time you were writing your post. "Home on the Range" was the first thing that popped into my head.

Some of the lines need fine tuning but I kind of like this one.

You can say that again! Also, I don't know why you think I'm never cloudy. I'm frequently in a fog and fog is nothing but a low lying cloud.

Tal, here's a song for you:

♪♫ Buffalo Gal ♪♫

The buffalo was strolling around the field
Around the field, around the field
Saw A pretty cow and his fate was sealed
And they woo'd by the light of the moon

♫ CHORUS:
Buffalo cow won't you come out tonight
Come out tonight come out tonight
Buffalo cow won't you come out tonight
Get woo'd by the light of the moon

He woo'd with the cow whose tail was a wav'n
Her heart palpitat'n her legs were a shaken
He woo'd with the cow whose tail was a wav'n
And they woo'd by the light of the moon

♫ CHORUS:
Buffalo cow won't you come out tonight
Come out tonight come out tonight
Buffalo cow won't you come out tonight
Get woo'd by the light of the moon

He asked her if she'd have a dance
Have a dance have a dance,
He thought that he might have a chance
To shake two legs with her

♫ CHORUS:
Buffalo cow won't you come out tonight
Come out tonight come out tonight
Buffalo cow won't you come out tonight
Get woo'd by the light of the moon

He woo'd with the cow whose tail was a wav'n
Her heart palpitat'n her legs were a shaken
He woo'd with the cow whose tail was a wav'n
And they woo'd by the light of the moon

♫ CHORUS:
Buffalo cow won't you come out tonight
Come out tonight come out tonight
Buffalo cow won't you come out tonight
Get woo'd by the light of the moon
