Sugar Cane had always been such a tranquil and picturesque park, but now seems to be in neglect! The large pond is dried up, no more wildlife, walking path getting cracks in the macadam surface, lawns not being maintained. What's going on here?

All ponds are low right now, some even dry up when don’t rain.Wildlife goes where food at. Gasses in fields are dormant this time of year so they don’t need mowed as often. Now where’s sugar cane?

A while back I found the plan for the ponds south of 44 and unfortunately, the pond in back of Sugar Cane is strictly a standalone drainage retention area with no controls to add or balance water levels with other sources. It is intented to be more of an overflow area. There are actually more retention areas like this south of 44 that frequently go dry. That's just the way it is! As far as maintenance of trails and landscaping, it is always best to notify the district and have them do the follow up with the contractor responsible. If they are not meeting their performance objectives, the district will give them time to correct or possibly fire them. Nobody on a chat board can help you fix the problem!
