When did the dancing end?
When we arrived here 10 years ago, one of things we enjoyed was dancing at the squares. Admittedly, we no longer spend a lot of time there. Tonight I was viewing the squares on the web cams and nobody was dancing, everyone was standing staring at the bands at Brownwood and Sumter....hard to tell at SS. Wonder why.

Probably too many people to actually dance and not bump into other people, just a guess.

They were dancing at LSL between 5 and 7 while we were there. They were dancing at BW from 5-9 the other night. Not sure the why the cameras didn't show that.

Yeah, that's one of my gripes with the people at the squares. They just stand around the stage taking up the space on the "dance floor".
If they're not going to dance, why the heck don't they just sit down and leave room on the "floor" for people who do want to dance? . |

I glanced at the cameras last night. At Brownwood, I think it was Rocky playing. That coupled with snowbird season, meant a huge turn out. There’s not enough room to sit (whether in the bleachers or if you bring your own chairs), so the overflow crowd has no where else to go but to stand in the middle of the square to watch the band perform. This happens when a popular band is scheduled. (Hooligans/Spazmatics is always SRO). You don’t see this occurring as much in the slower, summer season.

I like to dance up close to the stage in front of the band- because seeing the musicians play is part of the dancing experience. A couple of nights ago, when Penta was playing, this area was blocked by people tightly packed, just standing there. These were all younger people- no one over 40. We noticed this same thing up North, but up there it was kids in their 20s. So I just muscled my way past all the standers and started dancing and bumping into them. There was plenty of room to dance behind this group of standers, but the standers clogged up the Dance Floor by turning it into a Stand Floor. There were also plenty of seats for the last 2 sets when this was happening. "I Love Humanity- It's The People I Hate"

The dancing ended with a group of seniors who faithfully started following and befriending members of Uncle Bob's Rock Shop in SS. They would stand in front of the gazebo like a mosh pit and wear band supporting apparel. A portion of this original group now frequents Sumter.

We were at LSL last night to hear the band Relic. They play a lot of music you don't hear at the squares very often.
They have become very popular and people are really into it. Some were dancing, many were not. The place was packed and the crowd was having fun. It's all good for us, dancing or not. We just love not having to hear all the old overplayed songs the bands usually play. There's a total of 1460 nights of entertainment across 4 venues. If you truly want to dance, there's plenty of options for you.
