Default When is the right time to start a new thread

Sometimes an old old thread will resurface and sometimes there are two or three threads on the same topic going at the same time. What are the guidelines for new versus old threads?

Some people try to research for info needed and can't find threads that have discussed an issue. I find going to Google yields better results in finding threads as opposed to the "search" icon.

When info is needed and previous threads can't be found is a good time to start a new thread on whatever one need to know.

I won't speak for the admin but I don't think there is not a definitive guideline on starting new threads. If a question needs to be asked, one must ask it.

I sometimes have to wonder why someone resurrects a thread from several years ago but that's me.

No rules = let 'em rip - if it's about dog poop, the Developer, Buildout, roundabouts, restaurant service, not the right shopping, holding seats, inconsiderate people. Wait - I have become one of the latter.

Good question VJ - I have wondered the same sometimes.

I often wonder what a sincere person who is thinking about making this place their home must think when they read all this sometimes overwhelming misinformation.

I was once that person. It took awhile to figure out who could be trusted and who had an agenda.

I just hope that we can have fun on this forum, exchange ideas, debate issues, throw out some zingers and even rant sometimes and not turn someone away who would love this place just like most of us do. There are many who try to quell rumors and replace them with accurate information, and I so appreciate that they try to uphold what is good about our home town.

You lick it.

Or, you click on HOME, click on the category you want to post in, click on start new topic, type your title, type your post, click on Submit New Thread.

It doesn't matter, the OP of any given thread will more than likely be scolded by the self anointed message board policeman for not asking elsewhere...

So, why are there two threads on this topic?

I am guessing that someone is trying to point something out.

Perhaps that talking about the same thing and bringing the same thing up again and again will just annoy people rather than change their minds?

For the same reason there is a Back to the Future parts 1, 2 and 3. I asked a brilliant IMHO question and our beloved colleagues DougB and Dr B joined in and made it fun.

Some folks just aren't happy if they aren't bitching and criticizing.

Try entering this into the google search screen:
site:talkofthevillages.com hedges

I used hedges as an example. Google will search "talk of the villages" for posts pertaining to hedges. I got 583 hits but most of them are probably repeats.
