In particular where is a good place to have your transmissions checked on?
Have a 2010 Honda CRV.
You ask two different questions — 1) a good place for car servicing; 2) a good place for a transmission check.

Others have weighed in on good place(s) for servicing. You don’t identify a/the problem with the transmission. I restore cars — mechanically. I would not take a car experiencing transmission problems to a tire shop unless they specialize in transmission work. Tricky business. That year CRV has a 5 speed auto and it looks like a 90k service interval for trans fluid change. Is the trans skipping, hanging up, or do you simply THINK you need a fluid change? Some shops will want to a “complete flush”. No, no if the car has lots of miles and the trans fluid has never been changed. Better to incrementally change the fluid. Drain a bit, add a bit.

On my cars, a trans problem (shifting, hanging up, etc.) is one of the few times I’d take the car to a WELL/GOOD REVIEWED (Honda) dealer. As I said, trans work is highly specialized. Lots of people take old cars with trans problems to jack of all trades shops, have a flush done and have more problems than the original one. Good luck. My advice — read about that model year on the Honda forums, find a good Honda dealer and take it there.

Sumter Tire doesn’t do transmission work but he recommended Lake Sumter Transmission in Leesburg. They did a good job.

Transmissions are a tricky parts of your cars power train, you may want to look up the closest Honda dealership.

Do dealers really work on transmissions, or do they hire someone else to do it? A lot of dealers don't even do body work.

Now, my gripe is not with Jason Accurso or his mechanics. The A/C is blowing cold again.

I don't consider myself a complainer, but the service writer, Gary M. really rubbed me the wrong way. I waited in the waiting room. Gary M. came in and handed me 4 repair orders for my approval.

1. Need new battery because of terminal corrosion, not because it tested bad. $320 - No thanks.

2. Need 4 new tires because of dry rot. The tires are less than 5 years old with 15K miles on them. They were just declared "like new" at DeLuca Toyota. $878 - No thanks.

3. Need 2 new windshield wiper blades. I told him that I had replaced the wipers myself only 2 months prior. He left the room and came back to tell me that they were "smearing." $73 - No thanks.

4. Diagnose and recharge A/C system, including 2 KG of 134a refrigerant at $18 per KG. $263 - go ahead, but the A/C system only holds between 0.41 and 0.47 KG of 134a. I wound up getting charged for 0.28 KG at $25 per KG. $230 - OK.

I was polite and unaggressive. I only questioned the wipers and the amount of refrigerant because I couldn't believe it. Gary M. clearly doesn't like questions. He gets red in the face and borders on being rude. He told me, "Hurry up. I have a technician waiting." Upselling is one thing. This was something more. I worry that Gary M. might be taking advantage of the naive. Be forewarned.
I have been taking my car to Accurso for years, you are correct Jason is pleasant, honest and good at what he does. I also quit going there because of Gary. I have given that place a lot of money over the years, and he has been snotty to me more than once. Once was right after they got a separate waiting room..... he told me to wait in the waiting room, I said, "Waiting room?" he said go out and you'll find it." I said, "I didn't know you had a waiting room." He snarled, "You do now!" When I say snarled, I mean snarled.

The next time, after I got an oil change, I say some drips on the floor. Thinking maybe the cap wasn't tightened, I brought it back. Jason took it in, and I waited. Gary told me there's oil all over the engine!! I said, "Why didn't you say something when you changed the oil?" This ****ed him off and he growled, "I guess they thought you knew it." Huh?

How would I know that? I'm an old lady with an old Mercedes that runs perfectly..... BTW, there are no more drips on the floor..... makes me wonder if they did tighten the cap.

I think that Gary Mastronunzio thinks that he is the the smartest person in the room, but that ain't gonna happen until he's all alone.

Default Thank You all!!

Wow, the winners seem to be, "Sumter Tire or Wildwood Tire".
That is extremely helpful!!!

As for the transmission. It seems to (stick?) a little around 40mph. The car feels like it is going over a rumble strip to some degree, You get some vibration.

I would say where you bought it, then you’ll know whether or not if you want to go back there to buy your nexted vehicular. At least you’ll know if they’re looking out for a repeat customer or the repeat sucker customer Just use your smarts!
