I saw a big box turtle nearly get hit by a car yesterday on Morse Blvd. Fortunately the driver saw him and avoided hitting him. I don't know if it's mating or egg-laying season, why they are active, but be aware. Its awfully upsettiing to squash a turtle.

Remember - if you decide to save a turtle crossing the road put him on the he was trying to get to - not where he came from - otherwise he'll start his journey all over again and maybe won't be so lucky next time.
