Default Irony around Wind Mitigation Report

I had an inspection performed on my purchase home in TV. The inspector could not complete a wind mitigation report because the rafters were covered with spray foam. I thought this was odd. I notified my potential homeowners insurance company, and they jacked up my premium estimate by $1,000 for not having a Wind Mit, even though the roof was replaced in 2019. Previous owners do not have a wind mit, nor are they valid after 5 years anyway.

I did contact another inspector to just have a wind mit, but he must view the attic before committing to the report. Its ironic that spray foam, which is helpful in strengthening the roof panels and better insulating the attic, can negate any insurance savings be prohibiting the wind mitigation report.

The new inspector will need to remove portions of the spray foam to get to the truss anchors, nails, and sheathing.

Anyone else run into a similar situation?
