Who Names The Streets?
Just curious, when a new sub-division is being planned who selects the street names? Developer? County? Who?

Suggestion:
IF TV continues to expand (sure...). The Developer could put a % of the new street names up for bid. For example 30 street names open, and TVrs can suggest names; must be 'clean', not personal, and perhaps with a theme - like Florida rivers, lakes. cities, etc etc. The ones that are chosen would pay $100 to a local charity. Just a thought - something different --- some of the newer street names are odd; they will go un-named here. OK, I'll give one = 'Waldo Terrace' in Leyton Villas. We got lost once going there and kept asking walkers - "Where's Waldo". They just chuckled and we still never found it. |

Bridgeport
I guess there is a certain"cache" associated with Bridgeport so they used it everywhere there are the higher end homes. It really is confusing!

There are a lot of very strange street names here. I do know one of the street names in the new Village of Fruitland Park that is appropriate though. Trussler Terrace is being named after Tony Trussler of The Villages sales staff!!..

Moved from Bridgeport CT.
CT is a good state to be from. Tax you to death on everything. I am constantly reminded of where I moved from. UUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH!

Let's see. since about half of the street names are members of the Developer's family, or friends, donors or marketing myths to engage prospective buyers it just might be

Another question, why are the house numbers so high....6 houses on a street...all in the 2000 range.

Where I worked the developer named the streets or suggested a theme.
When there was no guidance the engineer would choose the names. An exasperated developer once named a street Marlboro after his cigarettes. Once the engineer named a street Wakefield Court because it backed up to a funeral home and NoMo Gardens was suggested for a subdivision named when a community garden was being developed. Streets named after family and friends is common. |
