[Villages Kahuna]

Those of you who missed the performances last Thursday and Sunday nights at Church On The Square missed two of the best musical performances ever performed in TV. The Orchestra Camerato Ducale with its world-class virtuoso violinist, Guido Rimondo, gave those two concerts, plus one earlier in the week for all the students at The Villages schools.

The orchestra, with it's traveling party of about 40 people flew from their home in the Piedmont region of Italy and stayed in TV for a week. They had no other performances scheduled except those here, for Villages residents and children.

Their performance was so magnificent that I wondered how The Villages could possibly afford to bring them here just for those performances. The paid tickets at the Church On The Square couldn't possibly have paid for even half of the cost of bringing them here. Who picked up the tab for the cost not covered by ticket sales?

As best I can determine from inquiries I made with people involved in the music programs here and performers in our classical groups, the cost was paid for by the same person who so often is criticized so heavily for one thing or another here on this forum. As one person who knows of the situation put it, "(He) just writes a check for things that are good for The Villages, never wanting to be recognized or thanked."

I think we all know who our benefactor might be. I for one will tell him loudly and publicly...THANKS!
