I was traveling (in my golf cart) down Belvedere around 10:30 AM Friday. 2 pedestrians were passing each other. The woman walked off the sidewalk into the grass. The man jumped in front of me into the golf cart lane. Since there was a car approaching, I had no where to go, so I stopped. He yelled and clapped his hands saying, "Come on, lady! MOVE OVER!" Where? into the path of the car? JERK!

This is even on some very heavily trafficked roads, such as Morse Boulevard, Rio Grande, and Del Mar. Lake County even paints pictures of pedestrians, bicycles, and dog walkers in the lane to warn golf cart drivers they must share the lane and yield to the non-motorized users. Admittedly, if there is a line of car traffic paralleling the lane, the other users should make an effort to jump up on the grass or verge, even if it is uncomfortable to do so, which it often is because of heavy dew on the grass, uneven surfaces, shrubs, branches, etc. Still it is the moral and legal duty of the golf cart to yield to these other users by moving into the car lane (all the way in, not just a few inches) when it is safe to do so. I have seen many polite car drivers anticipate this and slow down to allow all users to proceed safely. Let's face it, good as the design of The Villages is, this is one of the most egregious flaws in its initial layout, at least in my opinion. Perhaps 20-30 years ago, they didn't expect seniors to walk or bike. How mistaken this assumption turned out to be. My mantra is give others the benefit of the doubt, reduce stress, and live longer.
You may BELIEVE I'm incorrect, but you are wrong. Please don't make me cite FL statute 316.130 sec 3 for the 101st time. It is quoted earlier in this thread. I also mentioned that the situation is different north of 466 or anywhere that doesn't have a sidewalk. The incidents described at the beginning of this thread occurred within 5 feet of a sidewalk

There is virtually no reason for this kind of ignorance. Any possibility of transmission of Corona Virus is a function of proximity and time. You are not going to be infected in the few seconds that it takes to pass someone on the street!

Death wish? Shaking my head!
Florida law requires pedestrians to walk on a sidewalk when one is available.

Very true. I also think there is no chance of being infected as you pass someone in the aisle of a grocery store as it takes all of one second to get past them. Who's idea was it anyway for one way aisles?

I'll try not to hold that against you. Just kidding.
Are you driving an ELECTRIC cart, they can sneak up on you.
I 'm surprised there isn't a law that they should have to emit some kind of constant sound.

What sound would you suggest ? Music, Laughter, Beep, Beep, Waterfall, Rainfall, Screeching, Moving Train, Snoring, etc.

Low enough to be heard but yet " Soothing " enough not to be annoying.

Since your cart is about the size of an old Nash Rambler, here is your answer:

While riding in my Cadillac, what, to my surprise,
A little Nash Rambler was following me, about one-third my size.
The guy must have wanted it to pass me up
As he kept on tooting his horn. Beep! Beep!
I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn.
Beep, beep. (Beep, beep.)
Beep, beep. (Beep, beep.)
His horn went, beep, beep, beep. (Beep! Beep!)

Why not be “friendly” and just go around her? If you are retired and live in The Villages you should dial back the “me first”, “ don’t get in my way” attitude.

Thanks for not holding that against me. LOL.

NOOOOOOO. I love my quiet electric golf cart. How about we do away with people who don't look for traffic before they walk into a roadway. She didn't look. She just hopped onto the cart path and never looked back to see if there was traffic coming.

She was wrong walking in the cart path when there is a sidewalk right next the the cart path. She needed to be given a message. I was NOT going to go around her. I would come to a complete stop first with my cart flashers on and let her really hear my voice!!!
