Default Why are there so many repeated Village names?

I have been wondering....no, not WANDERING, but I do that too.

Why are so many neighborhood and village names repeated?

We have 3 Bridgeports....Bridgeport at Lake Miona, Bridgeport at Laurel Valley, Bridgeport at Sumter Landing.

We have the Amelia Villas AND the Village of Amelia.

We have the Hacienda Recreational center and the Haciendas of Mission Hills (which are no where near each other)

Can anyone else think of more? It can be confusing sometimes.

Add to that Hacienda country club. I had that and the recreation center confused when we first got here.

The people making up the names are getting old and can't remember what they already named everything.

Someone told me there are 1800 streets in TV. I think they probably have a computer program that invents names, because no 2 street names are exactly the same.

Wow! That reminds me of a big mix up that happened to me about 8 years ago. My good friend and neighbor called to invite me to her big birthday party that her children had planned for her. Instead of saying it would be at the Hacienda Country Club restaurant, she said, "It's going to be at La Hacienda. "Then she asked, "do you know where that is?" Well, I was picturing the recreation center, so I said, "yes, of course I know where it is."

When I got to the recreation center, there was NO party. And the 3 guys who were working at the main desk had no clue as to where it might have been, even though I asked them if there was another place with a name that sounds like "La Hacienda".

It was a big disappointment and embarrassing.

well, I meant village names and recreation center names and villa names, not necessarily street names. Let's hope they don't start repeating them or we'll really be confused!

Reminds me of a story also. Many years ago, my BFF and I, both single at the time, decided to take a spur-of-the-moment Labor Day weekend trip up the CA coast to Carmel. Since I was working and she wasn't, her job was to find us a place to stay, which miraculously she did. I called my mom to tell her where I'd be, and she said she had a friend who wanted to go up there also but hadn't been able to find a place to stay, so I told her to call the Carmel Valley Inn where we'd been able to get a reservation. The next week, I asked my mom if her friend had enjoyed her weekend, and she said no - seems my mom had told her Carmel Valley Ranch (instead of Inn), and coincidentally, such a place did exist and did in fact have vacancies. The morning after arrival they went to the restaurant for breakfast and were served some smelly juice they didn't order. They asked for a menu and were told there were no menus there - turns out Carmel Valley Ranch was a fat farm.

On the other hand, Carmel Valley Inn had great food

I'm always confused because two new villages are named Captiva and Sanibel which are islands in the Gulf off SW Fla. and very popular. I start reading articles in the paper then realize they are talking about TV. I wish they could be more original.
