I am sitting in my golf cart tonight park around the Brownwood Square enjoying the music when I am chased out by a cigar smoking neighbor. 98% of the people in the villages don't smoke so why do we allow such a minority of people affect our health and well being???

Because smoking is legal in open spaces, whether by 2% of the people or by only one.

Loud music can cause hearing loss, certain food aerosols can trigger anaphylactic shock, fumes from gasoline engines can cause severe irritation to those with breathing issues - being out in public involves some risk, such is the cost of living in a free society.

I was driving down Enrique Drive last night. The driver in the cart in front of me was smoking a cigar. How dare he fowl the air behind him! I took matters into my own hands and passed his cart. Problem solved and we were all happy!

We (you) are lucky, Kentucky state (for example) still allows smoking (no ban in the state) so individual Kentucky cities and retail places (like bars) must individually ban smoking within that state.

Body odor at the squares is more prevalent and more disgusting but it's their right to smell like a sewer.

Not a smoker, never have been, and hate to be "trapped" in an area of smokers; HOWEVER, I suppose the answer to your questions is that smoking in public areas, like shopping squares of towns and cities, is not against the law. Plus we are ALL free to walk away, drive your golf cart to a new location, leave completely, etc. Example, yesterday was enjoying a coffee with a friend on the patio of the local Dunkin' D, when a man sat down to enjoy smoking his pipe. Our ONLY choices were to go inside where smoking is not permitted, or leave completely. He had every right to sit on the patio and smoke. People at the public squares are "requested" NOT to smoke on the inner part of the square where dancers gather, but have every right to smoke outside on public land... or at least that's how I have always understood "smoking" areas all over the USA ? My most terrifying memories of childhood were being on flights with my parents (also non smokers) and thinking I was going to actually DIE from the smoke that always got even worse on the plane as soon as we finished meals. Those "meals" were served on REAL plates with REAL flatware, no plastic "sporks", but at age 8-10 was aware that as soon as we ate our food, the adults would be lighting their cigarettes... LOL. They might still smoke at public shopping squares here and everywhere, but at least not on planes anymore !

Well, I would counter that 0.5% (one half of one percent) of people in the USA consider themselves transgender ... have gender dysphoria. Why do we allow 0.5% of the population to change the culture ... men in women's sports ... drag queen story hour for kids ... demands by men to use women's locker rooms and rest rooms? It's insane / unnatural / perverted.

What's a little cigar smoke among neighbors who aren't trying to pervert the next generation?
