In today's Daily Sun, there was a section titled Mercedes Mania, a couple displayed 2 high end cars & the owner stated he had sold $335,000,000. worth of real estate. These people have displayed over $300 K worth of cars & the potential income greater than $6 million. Honestly they just painted a big bullseye on themselves.
Word to the wise keep it private among friends. |

Some people just like showing off... no matter what the "cost" may be.

So, this is what it has come to. . . Hard working and successful people need to stay in hiding?

If they have that kind of money they can hire a 24/7 guard! God bless them for their success, but I don't personally don't care for people that like to show off.

The real fact of the matter is there are more break-ins (robberies & burglaries) in gated communities than non-gated. The theory behind that is that there are better things in the homes where the community is gated, and not only better things, but more of them.

I've always heard that crooks check the Obits and wedding announcements to see when wealthy folks are going to be not at home

OH my goodness
Saying people displaying their success, is asking for a robbery, is just like saying a girl dressed "sexy" is asking to be raped |

Wish I'd been blessed with the talent, ambition, and know-how to be THAT successful. Or that I'd won the lottery. Alas, I wasn't and didn't. We're successful in our own way. We have just enough money to live comfortably. Not extravagantly, but comfortably.
Good for them, though. I love success stories--not just monetary success, but success in general. They've worked hard and been blessed. Heck, I don't want successful people to hide it. I want someone my children and grandchildren can look to and say, "Yeah, I can do that, too!" |

I'm not sure the poster was putting the success of the people down or suggesting they shouldn't be proud of their accomplishments. My interpretation of the original post was the items being publicized may encourage a dishonest person to stake out the place.
We learned on this site that to avoid a potential robbery to turn boxes inside out from expensive electronics and any expensive item purchased. After a robbery a few months ago in The Villages, someone remembered seeing a box in their trash showing they had made a large purchase. Is it possible the thought behind the original post has been misunderstood? By showing anything that someone else may want, it is possible to open yourself up for a robbery. |
