Default Will arrive TV March 23 for a week

We leave OH on Friday, Mar. 22, on a TV furniture-buying mission, meet the neighbors, visit some TV friends, and hopefully play some golf. Departing TV Mar. 31. Retiring in June, then to TV full-time.

Any furniture buying tips? Our primary focus is LR and MBR. We have DR, BR2, and lanai furniture. Not sure about what we're going to do re: BR3/study, and breakfast nook furniture (we may bring that with us, but not sure at this point). We have a Lantana model.

We have never driven 1,000 miles one-way before, so we have promised each other not to become cranky butts <g>. It will be a 2-day trip, as we're stopping off the first night so Kathy can visit where she grew up (her father helped develop the Atomic bomb in TN). She left there at age 8. She remembers her childhood home. We'll do a brief WWII museum visit there, before completing our drive to TV.

TV has been a 6-year dream for us. Keep the light on for us!

Gene & Kathy,
Sanibel

furniture buying? check out showcase direct [in la plaza grande - near spanish springs] - and then check southern lifestyles - both stores offer villager discount. southern lifestyles carries many of the brands also carried by other stores in the area - and they have "secret shoppers" who go to the other stores to check the pricing there. have found them to be competitive and willing to price match - and it is just plain convenient!

first thing to do, however, is to check the daily sun to see if any local stores are running ads when you arrive. and there are always the 2nd hand stores to peruse - bargains and treasures and nearlee new, etc. can find some really interesting pieces and accessories there. and don't forget yard sailing or the totv 'items for sale' forum!

Have a safe trip. I know you must be very excited. njbchbum gave excellent advice. If you want some really good used furniture, check out Bargains and Treasures. Google Maps
