I am curious if this statistic is known to any forum readers. Obviously not everybody who relocates to The Villages from the North likes it here. Does anyone know what percent of new Villagers decide after a year or so, "this isn't for me" and move back North?

I have been here 7 plus years.
One neighbor moved because he was not happy here. He has since moved back.
Another moved back North to be near relatives. Lets us know she misses being here.
Another couple moved because they were not happy here. They have moved numerous times since. Seems they are not happy anywhere.
There is only one case of a move due to real unhappiness with The Villages and let's just say the feeling is mutual.
There may have been more but this is a big neighborhood.

I've heard of a few moves because they didn't like TV or how it has grown or some other unhappiness. The consensus of those of knew these people seemed to be that they would be unhappy anywhere and are not missed.

I also know of several moves that have occurred because of life happenstances (need to be close to ill family members, Alzheimers dictates move closer to children, etc.). Those that have been forced to move want to come back but understand that is not to be -- at least not for a long while. Most of their friends miss them dearly.

I've heard the most regrets were those who moved back to be closer to their kids and grandchildren. They discovered their kids had lives and the grandchildren had grown up and didn't want to spend time with grandma and grandpa any longer. They usually come back.

TV is not perfect and it is not for everyone. If you're one of those who expects the world to come to you, you're going to be lonely and miserable here. If, however, you put yourself out there, it is hard to not be happy here.

I had the same questions awhile back and started this poll:
Reasons for moving out of TV

Some interesting results.
