I’ve been paying utilities for around 55 years. I have never witnessed prices going down? It’s always nickel and dimes which add up to dollars.
![]() And then there the dollars jump. ![]() |

It all depends on the Price of Natural Gas. The power price will change with changes in NG prices both up and down. The OP asked when will SECO reduce prices since OP referenced a Power Company that announced a power cost decrease. My reply said that have started to decrease the price.
SECO's power is purchased from Power Generating Companies whose power is mostly produced from Natural Gas. SECO is a not for profit cooperative electric power provider. Therefore, SECO passes power cost savings on to their customers via Hot Bucks (negative Power Cost Adjustment). Cost increases are shown as positive PCA. SECO news: SECO announces energy bill reduction. The Hot Bucks credit will reduce SECO Energy's cost for residential service per 1,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) from $146.60 to $116.60, with bills generating as of Oct. 1.Sep 27, 2023 | Local News Chronicle Online chronicleonline.com | Florida's Best Community Newspaper › news › seco-announc... Quotes from SECO What is the power cost adjustment on SECO Energy bill? The adjustment, known formally as the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA), will result in average bills totaling their lowest cost in the last five years. SECO Energy coined the term, “Hot Bucks,” to refer to opportunities the not-for-profit cooperative electric provider acts upon to lower members' bills. Sep 29, 2023 |

In the US, about 60% of our electricity is generated generation was from fossil fuels—coal, natural gas, petroleum, and other gases; about 18% is from nuclear energy;and about 21% is from renewable energy sources.
Does anyone know what the percentages are for SECO and Duke? |

The magic of inflation. I have several of the old metal coffee cans in my garage. Great for loose screws etc. They were a full pound, not the current 10-13 ounces and they are marked ninety-nine cents. Which went up faster-Coffee or screws-or wood or????.

36 % Coal 63% Natural Gas 1% Solar Duke is national so here is their national mix with some notes about Florida: 24.2 % Purchased and net exchange 34.2 % NG and Oil 26.6 % Nuclear (None in Florida, Crystal River unit has been decommissioned) 13.5% Coal ( two units in Crystal River) 1.5 % Solar and hydro So Duke Florida is mostly fossil fuels as far as I could determine quickly. Florida Nuclear is mainly FL Power and Light. |
