Default Window A/C

I’m thinking of putting a small window a/c unit in my garage; is this permitted?

You didn't read your Deed Restrictions?

I don't think window a/c are permitted. I would call architectural review before buying one.

No shame..... I would guess maybe 90% plus don't read their deed restrictions before buying.

No window a/c

No pink flamingos

No engine blocks hanging from trees

No bathtub shrines

etc. All good things that we said we would not do when we bought our homes.

There are portable a/c units (Home Depot and Lowes) that would physically be inside the garage and vent through the window. You might want to consider that as an option.

Try it. If no one complains you’ve won, if not sell it on Craig’s list.
Bottom line, it’s not allowed.

That's what I would do if my word wasn't my bond.

Definition of my word is my bond

—used to indicate that one will always do what one has promised to do.

I had one in my garage window for 12 years. I had plants hiding it and no one complained. I heard someone else put one in their window and got turned in, as it faced the golf coarse. They then removed it from the window and put a hole in the wall and re-installed it in the hole. Then it was no longer a window A/C as the wording says "no window A/C"

I know of a lanai that is air conditioned in this manner with a "roll around" unit. (I call it R2D2.) It is not a "window air conditioner." The exhaust hole also does not face the street.
