Default cheap carpet

My house was built in Feb 2014, we bought in Sept 2014 moved in as snow birds in Dec 2014 and returned this past Dec. When I returned I found 'speed' bumps in my carpet , lines in the carpet with humps, I called warranty dept. and of course I'm out of warranty, the installer wants money to stretch the carpet. I never had to have any carpet stretch in my old house ever. It must be cheap builder carpet, like $1.99 per yard. I'm just very disappointed, after all I did buy a new house , so things like this won't happen. I'm just not a happy camper...................

We have spots that look like grease AND the carpet has bumps. This probably explains why most people switch floorings within the first two years. We haven't lived in our house two years yet. Two adults, no kids, no grandkids.

We bought replacement carpeting from Great Lakes Carpeting and it too needed to be stretched after about 18 months. It was not cheap carpeting.
Perhaps, the environment here has an impact. By the way, Great Lakes came and stretched it gratis.

I don't think it's uncommon for this to happen depending on the weather when it's installed. It should be an easy fix. If the warranty department will give you the name of the installer, he might just do it gratis too, home warranty or not. Speak to the installer. Worth a call.

Just had our carpet stretching. House built in 2012. Called warranty dept to get name For recommendations. $125.00 to stretch, it's the climate not so much the carpet.

Are you a snowbird? Do you go away for months with the air conditioning set on not very cool? This is a VERY humid peninsula, Florida. Little mold critters can easily find safe haven on carpet with high humidity. Many people put a humidity control on when they leave for long periods of time.

Use Spot Shot and spray heavily and blot by walking on towels.

?????? You know, I think that you should sell at a profit and move to a place where time and wear and tear don't affect your home. We have had more than half a dozen brand new homes and many of the things you mentioned happened to most of them.
