Default wooden pallet

I have a wooden pallet that was used to transport a piece of furniture to my house. How do I dispose of this? Will the refuse department pick it up. It is about 3' x 4'.

I just moved in and had one also. I put it with my garbage but it was not taken. A call to the company and she said they are supposed to take pallets with garbage, not sure why mine was not picked up but sent a special truck to get it. Other larger items they will take but need a call in advance to send special truck.
