Default Sears Experiences?

I am getting ready to buy a washer and gas dryer. Has anyone dealt with the Sears store? Care to share your experiences?

We bought Sears (Kenmore) washer and dryer 7+ years ago when we moved in, great units, no problems or maintenance. No idea of the current offerings.

When we moved here we ordered our LG's from Sears and the only problem we had was the delivery guy didn't have the proper tools to hook up the gas dryer so I let him use mine. All is good 4 years later.

My two cents worth. Sears a great old store is in financial trouble. Kenmore used to be made by Whirlpool, I'm not sure that is so now. Sears, used to have service and parts.
I'm not sure they still do or can.

Craftsman tools. Sears to pay bills sold it. I think the same is true for Kenmore. I would suggest researching before buying. Re: Whirlpool-not related to Sears. Our Whirlpool refrigerator takes a very common filter also fits Hotpoint. Price has gone through the roof
and no one seems to carry them. The knock offs-generic-I bought some in frustration.
They are terrible. Part availability is important. Companies no longer use standardized parts so they gocha. Headlights used to be like $2.00 or $3.00 at Korvets or Sears today
that will be 600 to 1,000 and we can get it for you a a month or three.

I’m not sure I understand: are you suggesting LG over Whirlpool? Suggesting that Whirlpool is a Sears brand so may not be serviceable when Sears finally tosses in the towel? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :-)

Bought our washer & Dryer back in 2009 when we first bought our new home. Had a great experience. Staff was easy to work with, delivery was no problem and we have had no problems with either appliance since they were new.

I’ve always had great luck with Sears and will go there again as opposed to Lowe’s or Home Depot

Yep, correct. I'm a Whirlpool child. My dad worked for the 1900 Corporation, renamed the company Whirlpool in 1949 after he returned from WW2. I was born in Benton Harbor and knew all the plants by heart going there very often with my Dad. My dad retired after 47 years with the company. I still have employee benefits with them and also with the Kenmore appliances made by Whirlpool. If say about 50 to 75 percent, maybe more, are all assembled on the same line as Whirlpool...

I would look up reviews on Consumer Reports before I made an appliance purchase. I’ve had Kenmore in the past and found them very reliable, but that was then and now is now. Lots of appliances are made in China now. C R gives ratings including reliability and performance.

I bought a refrigerator from Sears at the mall in Leesburg about six years ago. A good experience. You never know what quality of a salesperson you will get but ours did fine. We decided to take the info we got at the store and go home and do further research. The salesperson said he would email us a link so that we could order the refrigerator online and save a trip back to the store if we chose to buy it. He said he would get credit for the sale if we used the link. What he didn't know was that Sears was going to include a coupon in the email for $100 off. So we saved an additional $100 just for giving them an email address.
Totally satisfied with the purchase and the appliance.
