If you have Certainteed shingles less than 10 years old and with visible staining, the cleaning is COVERED BY THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY. I just had this done, roof looks great and new algae warranty for 5 years.

You can call 1-800-345-1145 (option #1 I think)
This only covers the first and second owner of the home. They will confirm the shingles are theirs, the ownership, installation date, etc. You will get a claim number. Thy will send out an inspector, and if approved, he will explain the cleaning process and take before pictures. Cleaning takes around 1 to 1.5 hours. The company that they used was very good and explained the process and additional watering (irrigation or hand) that is required after the cleaning material is applied.

Time is running out if you want to have this done, I am very happy with the results, and i am posting this because I see a lot of houses in this area that appear to have the same staining problems I had.

Had it done a few months ago. No visit by an inspector, and the cleaning was done by Leprechaun Softwash.

Just hose off the plants under the roof overhang for a few days. No biggie.

If Certainteed 10 warranty covers cleaning of the staining, why is time running out? Doesn’t everyone have 10 years from date of install?

Thanks for the heads up. My roof is light gray 6 yrs old and there is streaking. I will pursue it.

Our home, just south of 466a is 9 and 3/4 years old, many in this area are around the same age, hence time may be running out.

Tried filling out the claim online, but it wanted square footage and stuff. Called the 800 number and it took 2 minutes. They had my name in the system already. The lady stated they contact the developer who sends out a cleaning crew.

Maybe I'm wrong or misheard this but I thought the insurance companies were forcing us to replace 10 year old roofs.

We are north of 466A but the same "offer" was available to us several years ago and we were very pleased with the results. At that time, you had to be the original owner. Some homes in our area were resale so could not take advantage of the offer and their roofs have very noticeable algae/mold on them. Worth doing.
