Default WVLG playing The Dead????

Never thought I would hear Casey Jones on an AM station, let alone on TV's WVLG, but it was on tonight. Next thing you know, they'll be playing soft hip hop.

Well, yes. They like pop music. I don't. So, Justin, et al. would make sense. But Casey Jones??? One of the better cocaine anthems played here???????

I love that they play such an eclectic mix of music. I can hear bubble gum music followed by some great Dylan. A while ago they played In a gada da vita by iron butterfly. Ok, not the long version, but they still played it. I wonder how much music of the sixties would be banned if they didn't allow songs that referenced drugs. I know there must be a lot of songs that reference drugs, but I'm drawing a blank right now.........hmmmmm....cause and effect? Now it's all coming back. Good vibrations by the beach boys, the needle and the damage done by Neil Young, Norwegian wood by the Beatles, almost anything by the velvet underground, but especially Heroin, Sister Morphine by the stones, Truckin' by The Dead, White Rabbit by Airplane. Can anyone else think of more?

Dead Flowers. Rolling Stones wrote and performed it, but I like Townes van Zandt's cover better.

I'm pretty sure that Paul McCartney has admitted that it was about acid, just like Day Tripper.

I had to smile when I heard The Electric Prunes last year, especially since the predominant music choices ten years ago were pretty much big band tunes. Rock on WVLG!
