Default Cadillac SRX

Where I see so many SRX's in The Villages I thought I'd relate what happened to me while driving up North. I was driving my 2010 SRX on I-95N in SC, doing 75 mph with the cruise control on. All of a sudden I got an error message that said "Service Stabilitrak" and then another that said "Engine Power Diminished". Immediately the car started to slow down and I had to maneuver over to the breakdown lane from the passing lane. I managed to limp to an off ramp to get off the highway. Apparently some GM products have what's called "Limp Home Mode" which allows you to drive at approx. 15 mph to get out of harms way. I read the car manual and it said if the Service Stabilitrak light comes on to shut the car off and wait a few minutes. Start the car if the light is out it's ok to drive but have it checked. I drove 40 miles and it happened again. Reset it again and drove 100 miles to a Cadillac dealer. Service Department not open on Saturday so have to lay over 1 1/2 days. Monday AM I'm first in line anxious to get back on the road. The only thing they could find were two error codes. Throttle position sensor and ECM stopped communicating. It turns out that the ECM problem is usually caused by electrical interference including of all things a Police Radar Gun. I did pass three policeman immediately before this happened but cannot swear this was the cause. The fix was to pull two fuses and put them back in, that reset the computer. Drove 1000 miles since the fix and no problems.

Moral of the story, don't buy GM. Still making excuses.

Have you driven thru any radar checks in those 1,000 miles?

Had the throttle sensor issue on my Denali.

It's a safety control if the computer is reading something bad.

I happen to be on the HiWay as well, but glad it did what it was suppose to.

Thank you Mr. GM.

Same thing happened to me with a VW Passat. It was a computer thing.
