Default Yoga and Zen in the Villages paper??

In our world of declining Christianity why is the Villages newspaper giving us moments of Zen and so many Yoga classes? Why are the churches finding it hard to start a church here, but the beer joints keep multiplying? Don't people know that Jesus is coming soon and it's time to get real with Him? God help the USA before it's too late. Richard Wood

So you don't find yoga a class that one can take that does not require a large amount of exercise however stretches every muscle in your body and can keep your balance in check at this age. Don't you find that meditation can improve the clarity of your mind when you're taking zen class. Both of these classes can be accomplished at any age in and can improve the well-being of your mind and your health. Not sure what yoga and zen has to do with Christianity.

You're mixing up spirituality with religion. Spirituality is your personal relationship to a Higher Power and religion is how you choose to express your relationship. Yoga and Zen meditation can enhance your spirituality and you have the freedom (thank God) to express it any way you choose.

I don't have any insight into the attempted start of new churches - do you? But I do see this regarding existing churches - most seem to be expanding!

Woody3, while I understand your concern with the decline with Christianity, there might be a confusion between religion and a relationship Jesus.

I enjoy yoga and find myself in deep prayer during the quiet time at the end.

i'm trying to figure out the implied connection between declining Christianity and many yoga classes.
I thought the meditative component of yoga would be compatible with Christianity.

Where do you get the idea that starting a church is hard to do in TV? Take a look at the Saturday Daily Sun................I think any religion that you might have an interest in, will be advertised there.
Beer joints just multiplying? Oh well, not worth commenting about!

C'mon, we all understand. Any mention in a positive way of any philosophy or belief that is not perfectly aligned with whatever orthodoxy one may believe is heretical. This can be seen with religion, politics, or even nutrition.

Religion is much easier to take with lots of beer. Remember Jesus' first miracle was changing water into wine for a party.
