Default How can I get estimated costs of utilities?

I'm moving into TV the end of July. I'm trying to figure out how much I should budget for electric & water. I'm moving into a Jasmine. Won't have a pool or a freezer/refrigerator in garage - just the standard appliances. I plan to keep our thermostat at around 76' to 78'.

Anyone have guest-imate? Thanks!

Do you have gas or just electric? Makes a big difference in the estimates. Also, the water charges south of 466 are higher than north of 466 (or is it the other way?)

CharTalk:

So you at least have a sort of ball park figure:

I live with The Cat in a Gardenia. Since The Cat doesn't use much in the way of utilities, these figures may give you a clue as to how a widower operates!

Electric $1,585 per year or about $211 per month
Gas $942 per year or about $79 per month
Water $870 per year or about $73 per month

Note, of course, that there's no such thing as an average month in any of these. Neither electric nor gas offer a flat monthly charge, that I used to pay "up north," so your budgeting should keep that in mind, as well.

Welcome to TV and to TOTV. Questions about anything here in TV will be answered here happily!

Here is the cost for two different homes. The higher one has a pool so uses more electric gas and water. I totaled the months as they vary a lot every month and took the average. Water includes amenity fee plus trash, but those are $134 plus $17 or $151 every month, the rest is water.

Pool home, used 7 months. Water $231, Electric $155, Gas $93, Cable $95 and Lawn $50 or total utilities about $7500 for the year.

Non pool home, used 9 months. Water $207, Electric $61, Gas $55, Cable $95 and lawn $50 or total about $5600 for the year.

Homes are 2000 (pool home) and 1850 square feet designer homes. So a pool heated by solar and gas used year around is about $2000 for the year plus another $1200 for pool service. Lower then I expected.

Hope this helps.

Thanks to all who responded to my question. Now I have some general amounts to use in my budget. That helps me a lot!
