Just wondering if speed boats are allowed on Lake Sumpter in TV or how close is the nearest lake for that kind of activity?

I have seen small sailboats on occasion at Lake Sumter. That's it (unless you count the tour boat). The Harris Chain of Lakes is nearby and the Clermont Chain further down. They are power boating friendly and give you a variety of lakes.

I believe there is a group of Villagers who regularly water ski on Lake Miona in the Villages. I've seen them. I have also seen a some nice bass taken by boat from Lake Miona.

Just north of 42 is Lake Weir. Big lake. Seaplanes land their and coast into the beach at Gator Joe's Restaurant. I've also watched ski jumping championships on national television from Lake Weir. Lots of big power racers and go fasts there. I believe they have boat races there as well. 10 minutes outside the Villages.....Gator Joe's, a little longer.

Lots of really big lakes speedboat friendly within an hour of the Villages.

The Villages Magazine had an article on the water skiers. It can be found at
