Default Planning a visit

Hello,
My name is Pam. I'm 67. I've heard a lot about the Villages and want to come to see for myself if it's where I want to move to for retirement. How do I arrange a visit ? Do I rent a car at the Orlando airport ? Where can I stay while I'm visiting ?

Default visit

Go on line, www.the villages.com. go to COME VISIT and you get info about a visit, they rent villars, give you info, free whatever, and no preasure from sales people. Best way to see the villages amd what goes on. Also you can arrange a schuttle R/trip to and from airpot and villages.

The Lifestyle Visits (LSV) usually need to be booked about 3 months in advance. If you were to call today you might be able to get in during July or August. At those months it would be $100 a day, you can stay between 4 and 14 days I believe. They will normally put you in a new furnished courtyard villa near Lake Sumter Landing. They'll get you information, coupons and bicycles and a golf cart. For more information go to this link: The Villages - Florida's Friendliest Retirement Hometown

If you're coming sooner, there is a hotel at Lake Sumter Landing called the Waterfront Inn and is about $130 a day. From Orlando Int'l Airport you could rent a car or take the Villages shuttle, they have one just about every hour and it's about a 90 minute ride for $35 to Lake Sumter Landing near the Waterfront Hotel. There is also a Hampton Inn about two miles north of Lake Sumter on CR 466 that is about $90 per day and 3 other motels at Spanish Springs, which is the original square and they are about $90 a day as well. Spanish Springs is not near any of the new construction but there are many resales available in the older areas north of CR 466.

Hi Pam,

I am a TV wannabee, and I have visited TV 3 times since 2010, and I will be back visiting in June, renting for a week in the Village of Mira Mesa. My first visit in 2010 I stayed at the Comfort Inn near Spanish Springs for 5 nights while my friend looked at homes in TV. On both visits in 2011, I rented in two different villages (Village of Chatham and Village of Sabal Chase). Each visit was for 8 days. Before each visit, I stayed for one night at the Waterfront Inn at Lake Sumter Landing and one night at the Hampton Inn on 466. There is also a Holiday Inn Express near Spanish Springs and Towne Place Suites in Spanish Springs. You can rent a car at the Orlando airport and drive to TV, it will take about 1 hour (at least it does for me -- I'm not a speed demon driver).

I have not done a Lifestyle Preview Visit yet -- I think I will do that in 2013. The Lifestyle Preview Visit may be a good option for you. If you want to rent a home in The Villages, I would recommend you check out The Villages 4 Rent, Rentals in The Villages. There are rentals listed in every village from weekly to long term. Weekly and monthly rentals are pretty easy to get from May through October/November. January, February and March are the busy season in The Villages, and most rentals during those months are for 3 months duration. Good luck finding something and hope you can visit TV!
