Default Energy Star Builders in TV?

Hi.

Do the Villages builders of new homes use Energy STAR guidelines ?
I assume that the Villages has more than one construction company under contract so are there certain builders that are considered "better" than other builders? I'm sure if there were grave problems with a builder the Villages would weed them out quickly. But, there may be favorites.

Thanks.....from Upstate NY.....hope to be a Villages resident by Summer.

The building process is tightly controlled by the developer. The builders here are really more like superintendents. The buyer doesn't have the choice of a builder. Guided by your salesperson, you pick a lot and a model in the section that is currently for sale...if The Villages okays the model on the lot you pick and you are prepared to sign a contract, you will see the name of the builder posted inconspicuously on the contract at that time. You will also be told the closing date and you can rely on that.

In other words, The Villages dictates the construction, not the buyer. Overall, we found the quality control by the developer to be good, so it's just not anything to worry about. I can tell you, coming from a 30-year-old concrete bldg. in south FL to our new TV home was a real pleasure, energy-wise.

Welcome to you, hopefully, this coming summer.
