Default Bulk Trash pickup

Good Morning,

Shhh -- being very very quiet as to not wake my darlin' husband but ----

The clock is ticking as we finish sorting out "stuff" for our move to the Villages on the 27th! Husband is having hard time getting rid of very important things -- we just might need that ski parka, or our 12' rubber sailboat etc., etc., etc., don't you know

Anyway so I can visualize having a garage that will actually hold a golf cart and car and not just store "important stuff", just in case things get hidden on the moving truck, how do you get rid of "non longer important stuff once you become a true villager with more fun things to do besides sorting "important stuff". Is there bulk pick up??

Thanks and hope to meet people soon --- we'll be the newbies hauling a wagon of stuff around with our golf cart. Just kidding

If you can carry it to the curb, the odds are it will be picked up -- either by the trash guys or be someone driving by and thinking they might need it. There is very little that isn't picked up here -- I've even seen the garbage trucks drive away with a broken recliner. Another great way to get rid of things that are still in decent condition but not something you want (like that inflatable boat) is freecycle.org -- we have one for Lady Lake and one for The Villages here -- and there's always organizations that will happily take garage sale items off your hands.

There are also some organizations that take useable items as a charitable contribution.

After you move all that heavy overstuffed stuff that was great up north and you find that you want to unload it for Florida style furniture. There are several consignment shops that will sell the items. You will make more than any garage sale. They usually keep about half the sale price but the furniture if it is in reasonable shape will sell for half of retail.

Your best bet is to unload it up there and save moving costs.
