Default New homesite owners

Well....we did it!!!! We are the proud owners of a homesite on Bachman Path in Buttonwood!!!! We will be building sometime next summer.
I will be a newly retired goverment employee hopefully April 31, 2011. My husband Wayne retired two months ago. Soooo jealous!!!
Can't wait to meet all my neighbors!!! We will be coming down in the Spring to pick things out for the house.
I lot of my friends think we are crazy because they think we are moving to a retirement community. I will be 55, he will be 60 soon. (oops, I wasn't suppose to tell anyone that!) I know age is a "state of mind", but I would like to know if there are many "youngsters" out there? Please don't take it the wrong way. I would like to know the average age of The Villages residents.
Thanks!

Congratulations on your new home and welcome to your new hometown!

Average age? THIRTY NINE! Really...

Honestly, I don't have a clue. Have friends in their 50's, have friends in their 80's and ages in between. I really don't know the average age right now.

Welcome! Welcome!

I had many acquaintances express shock and disbelief when I said I was moving 1) to a "retirement" community, 2) in central Florida, 3) not even on the ocean.

They knew that I had really lost my mind!

Now, many of them have learned about The Villages. So far, I haven't persuaded any of them to come to "Paradise," but I'm not sure I've tried, either!

Age doesn't really matter here. My street (28 people) runs from 56 to 83. Yet, when we get together (not less than once a month), you might well guess we were nothing more than odd-looking ('cause of the wrinkles and all!) teenagers!

Welcome to you...You Buttonwooder.

The average age is low because many of us are only 18.

You will fit in just fine. You are allowed to be 55 and 60 as long as you don't act your age.

May you live long here in Paradise and have joy, peace, and fulfillment.

Hugs.
Gracie

You don't have to worry about acting our age. That's for sure!!

I still do what I have been doing since I was a kid, but a little slower.

Congrats -----on your decision

Our friends say the same thing !!! you are too young to commit yourself to a retirement home!!!!!---We tell them about TV --they listen --but still have questions...

We also have bought in Buttonwood and hope to be there by years end
Wife retired from Teaching in May --(56) I will retire when our home sells
(58).
I would like to know what the average age is also but I dont think it is too important in the long run --I believe we will all find plenty of new friends of all ages. I have plenty of people my age now that I find difficult to be around...I feel the attitude or outlook on life is what makes people gather. It seems most people transplanted to TV --have a common outlook (life) as it can be....

We hope to become younger once we get there ....or DIE trying

Good luck

Congratulations!

My wife and I will be moving as soon as we get our house sold. We will be building a home in Pennecamp. She will be 55 next month and I will be 63 in Sept. People give us a strange look when we tell them we are moving to a retirement community. (Actually, my wife tells them it's a retirement home) We hope to be getting younger when we get there also.

We're in the process of building in Pennecamp and will be there for Labor Day weekend. I'm 59 and my husband is 63 now but we intend on counting backwards after we get there. It's all in the attitude. There are OLD 50's and YOUNG 80's.

Congrats Zoomie and welcome!

We too bought a lot in Buttonwood and will be closing on our new house next month.

We are both between you and your hubby's age but act much younger.

Swinfla: Who knew we had the same acquantances?

Zoomie: You won't regret it for a minute! Welcome to Lower Paradise. BTW, hubby and I are 60 and 58 respectively (although we purchased before our last birthdays). Gracie is my dear friend, and she's only 18! You see, age disappears in Lower Paradise.

Default Age should not be an issue

Zoomie, I just finished my first visit to TV yesterday. On one of the open houses I attended, the TV sales rep told me that the average age of the person buying in TV now is 60, and 10 years ago it was 68. I will be 50 very soon, and I would buy in TV tomorrow, but I have to work for a few more years .

Congratulations on your purchase.

Laura
