What part of Illinois? We thought we were going to wait a year before retiring after we bought our house here, but changed our mind after a visit to our house, came back to Illinois, sold our house, packed up and moved down here full-time. The best decision ever. We lived in Vernon Hills before our move. Good luck to you and I know you will enjoy your visit in November.

We moved here 6 years ago from Springfield, IL after stopping in TV for 3 days on our way back to IL. We pat ourselves constantly about what a good decision it was for us. Friends in Springfield thought we were nuts to just pack up and go to a place where we didn't know anyone. We have so many wonderful friends and neighbors here. There are so many activities to choose from that have expanded our interests and abilities. As a bit of advice, downsize and don't move much. Good luck.

First visited The Villages in 2005, bought house in July 2012 and moved from The Village of South Elgin, IL Aug 2013.
We now think 60 degrees in January is a bit on the chilly side.
Welcome in November.

Good decision! We are originally from Chicago & Lombard area; last 40 years in Ohio, bought this year in Mallory & will remain snow-birds for awhile. Great plan!!

We still have a home in Springfield, IL and one in The Villages. We did downsize in Illinois but kept a place to visit the grandchildren in the summer. It's not the most economical of choices but currently works for us for several years. We first came to The Villages in 2006 and we are on our fourth home in the village of LaBelle. We visited and researched other places in Florida and even Arizona. There is no place like The Villages. PM me if we can be of help. Good luck.

November in TV is a great time. I can wear some of my long sleeve shirts and light jackets. I'm talking about at the square at night, not during the day. They also set up a Christmas tree at all three squares. Welcome to Florida!!

Also from Illinois (Bartlett). We bought last September in Pine Ridge, but have been stuck in a holding pattern on getting our Illinois place on the market, so no move quite yet. BUT, there is no way I am spending another winter in Illinois, so we will go snowbird if we haven't been able to sell by then.

Illinois politics is such a mess and that is an understatement. No budget again and the State goes further and further in debt. Residents are leaving---it's sad to see your State in such shape.

Welcome to the Villages. We are from Illiopolis, Illinois. Bought our home in Santo Domingo close to my parents in 2008 and moved down in 2014. You will love it here.

Lived in O'fallon for 8 years; personal property taxes were incredibly high compared to Lafayette, LA and KC, MO. You'll love it here.

Hi. I am hoping to move to my home in the Villages in a month. I keep hearing so many great things. I had water problems in my home in the Villages due to error by painter. The one thing that I have learned and wish I knew before I bought is to not use The Villages recommendations for people or companies for insurance, do repairs, anything. Talk around and get info from others. The Villages seem to have a kind of connection with certain companies and they aren't necessarily looking out for your best interests. I have lost money trusting the Villages recommendations.
