You should probably try calling a few insurance companies, as there are many variables. I use, and have been very happy with AAA, Kerriann Varney (352) 753-2500 ext. 2257

We too are dealing with obtaining homeowners insurance in a MH we are buying and we were not told upfront of how difficult it is to get in Florida. We were not told for instance that the tie downs need to be inspected to prove it is up to current code. The quote we received from Foremost (who Citizens Bank said was the ONLY company that insures manufactured homes now) was double what we pay for our current home in Atlanta that is three times the size. I wish we had known about this issue before making an offer on the house. We are supposed to close on Friday and I am having serious regrets! If The Villages plans to keep the historic section as part of it's property then they need to train the realtors to properly advise someone who is making an offer on a home! Our realtor knew nothing of the issues with insurance, tie downs, and now we are scrambling for flood insurance before the closing too. I realize they do not want to lose a sale but maybe we would have made a lower offer knowing how much more we would have to pay for the insurance. Or decided not to buy at all.
