I have owned a truck for many years. It seems I need to haul something quite often and can't imagine doing without one. My current one is old and full of miles and won't make the trip, and my wife says we won't need one when we move to TV. All I can picture is constantly needing a truck and paying someone to haul something for me. The problem I foresee is where to park it. We hope to get down to one car (anyone want to buy a 2006 Prius with 33000 miles?), but I don't want a junky old pickup always in the driveway. My suggestion to my wife is to compromise and sell both cars and get a nice shiny new truck.
Please let me know what some of you who have lived there for a while think about the need for a pickup. |

iandwk..... I've seen a number of people sell pickup trucks once they get here and either go with a smaller car or a second golf cart. Unless you need it for "work", there's just not that much need for hauling. If needed, you could rent a truck for the day at Enterprise in LSL or hire any of the folks that advertise in the Sun or make friends with that neighbor who kept his truck.

We are in a similar situation.....only we are deciding on whether or not we need a van. My dear old Windstar has 200,000+ miles on her and still rolling. I want to replace it with a smaller vehicle...hubby thinks we need another van...just in case we need to haul something. In fact, we haven't hauled anything since moving here 14 months ago!!!!!!!
As for pick-ups.....we have one in our neighborhood. Have to be honest..I do not see many around TV.

I have a 2006 F150 4x4 extended cab with a 6 foot bed and it will not fit in the garage of a CYV due to length. Highth is okay but the thing is too long. I have no problem fitting it into my garage here in Ohio.
If you cannot live without one I would go with nothing larger that a Ranger. |

I'm a definite exception to the rule. I'll be one of the neighbors you call "Hey can you pick this up for me at ...?" Matter of fact the truck will sit in the driveway. OMG how awful! No I will not keep the truck I currently own. 1 owner 94 GMC Sierra 214K miles. When I was in TV last Nov I drove over to Philips GMC to check out the service dept. Of course a salesman caught me. I told him when the home sold in KY I was buying a new truck when I return to FL. At that time he pointed towards 4 2007 models sitting on the lot. At this writing they have 6 2007's on the lot. http://www.phillips-buick.com/new-in...=clear&start=0 My intent is to buy new but it also depends on how much of a beating we take on the house. I have a boat and will you use it often. When I quit bass fishing the truck & boat will go. Similar to golfing. You play until you can't. The boat fits in the garage with another toy car. The truck will be a daily driver and hope to squeeeeeeze a golf cart in the garage also. We don't have a golf cart garage. If this were the only problems in life. 2 neighbors both leave their trucks in the driveway. Not sure what they had in the garage though.

I noticed a homeowner on Ambrosia in Hadley Village that parked his van in the garage. Or at least he tried. It appeared as though the garage door was touching the roof of the van. Maybe Gracie Girl has seen it also. It's between Havana Trail and Odell Circle. ![]() |

Oh, we can get the van in the garage but with the golf cart and the extra "stuff" it is nearly impossible to get out of the van once inside. The first time we tried it we were both laughing. I did keep her inside during the really hot months but once it cooled off I tired of squishing in and out of the drivers side door.
Solution...get rid of the stuff...problem...hubby might need it all some day. Sigh........ ![]() ![]()
