Default Soon to be there, insurance questions

Finally we will arrive Monday the 12 to search for new permanent home. Could you members please offer guidance on where to purchase home owner insurance. Are there big differences in rates and if so, why. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Hope to meet many of you soon.

Phil

Allstate does not sell homeowners insurance here. The Villages Insurance company sells insurance that is reasonably priced. Do you plan to get sinkhole insurance as well on your homeowners policy?

Actually Allstate sells homeowner's insurance for several Florida companies, just not Allstate insurance. For example they sell Security First Insurance.

Thanks for that correction. I was referring to Allstate specifically.

My HO insurance is less than half of the quote provided by the Villages Insurance. My hurricane deductible is higher, but I will take that chance with our location and solidly built home. Check out Brown & Brown for a quote.

Switched from The Villages Insurance company to AAA of Florida which offered discount package for house/cars/golf cart. Same coverage/protection but much cheaper!

I just went with the Villages Insurance. Easy to work with and a reasonable price.

Closing on Friday!

We also went to The Villages Insurance for our home owners, flood, and golf cart insurance. They were able to get us coverage for very reasonable rates and are convenient. We may have done better had we shopped around, but with all we had on our plate with retiring, purchasing a new home, and relocating all at once didn't want to fool with it.

Villages Insurance for car and home. Very competitive rates.

For car insurance, they send for a quote to several companies and always give you the lowest price available.

I deal with Carri Wildman in Brownwood, 352.753.2280. Very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with.

You must compare policies, as cheaper may not be the cheapest, if something bad happens.

Also be sure to compare apples with apples. Make sure the policies you are comparing are the exact same thing.

Also there are two types of sinkhole insurance, one is next to worthless (costs less)

I just got a quote on sinkhole coverage. It would cost $188/per year but only pays out 10% of the value of the house. House valued at $270,000 would only be covered up to $27,000. :-(
I'm thinking it's not worth it.

Are you sure that's not a 10% deductible?
