Here is a start:
Too Expensive to Live Here!
How much does it cost to live in The Villages?

If that is not enough, do a search on "cost to live in the villages"
Or just wait and you will get all the posts reentered.

to TOTV.

On the villages web site, there is an icon in the lower left corner that will help you. www.thevillages.com.

You can read the "nults and bolts" post by zcaveman at the bottom of the forums page. There is a section where he covers what it costs for a 2B/2B villa type home.

As usual, there are variables that you will have to factor in your particular lifestyle such as entertainment, eating out, etc.

I hope this helps.

Somewhere in one of the threads someone itemized most of the costs but unfortunately I can't remember where (it's a big place and I have a small memory!). Since I found this site, reading it has consumed my life!
I have found out though as you keep reading you keep discovering things not covered previously, like bonds, fees for amenities, yard maintenance, water irrigation, blue skies, rain, etc. Try searches using keywords.
Good luck in your search and tell Hank I said 'hello'.

Default Welcome to the forum. No stoning here.

I think that most people that I have talked to have said that they agree with us that the list published by the developer is pretty accurate.

The amenity fee is right around $135 a month no matter if you live in a home that cost $60,000 or one that cost a million and a half. Taxes I think are figured about 2% cost of home purchase yearly..approximately...and someone will please correct me on that if I am wrong. Most other expenses for food and utilities are about the same as those we left behind in Ohio.

If you play a lot of 18 hole golf it is more and if you dine out a lot it is more.

It is mighty fine, if you ask me.

Better than "raped and pillaged"................

Check the "Moving to The Villages - parts 1, 2, and 3" threads under this forum:

https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...play.php?f=139

Somewhere in one of them is some pretty good info about the costs of living in TV.

And welcome to TOTV!!!!!

Smile where to look?

We have had two contracts fall through on our home in West Tn. We are in the process of giving our home away here in Tn. So,like all, we are concerned about out living our savings. We lived in Melbourne,Fl for 50 years and she pressured me into moving up here. We hope a 40K loss on our house will be worth it. We will be looking in TV as soon as we can. Thanks you all for the replies and info.

Best,

We purchased our home in May (still snowbirds) I am keeping a spreadsheet of all the costs to maintain our FL home (taxes, electricity, insurance, lawn maintenance, etc. ) So far, the list on the Villages web site is pretty accurate.

Kinda ironic you signed with "say hello to Hank". Actually, yesterday mourning
I did say Hello to Hank. I live in Paris,Tn. where he lives and had coffee two tables over from where he and his "Boys" were having Breakfast. He ain't much to look at, plus he also is not the most friendly fellow you ever met. I just nodded my head and said "Hi". I love his music though.

Know all about the " Giving it away" and more than a 40K loss!

But on a positive note the cost of homes here are reasonable for the quality and more important the lifestyle you get.

I have met good friends off this site, new neighbors contractor assistance and best of all Ruth and I got a audience with " The Grace!"

Being "Stoned" prior to the beating might make it easier to handle. (Just kidding). Suggest you continue to use TOTV for any questions regarding life in the Villages. It is a great forum with some very nice people participating.

When I saw where you are located I knew he lived there and just had to throw that in! You're right on his description too. I only met him once. Hope your next sale works out.

This can certainly be taken two ways and either would be a preference prior to the beating!
