If only I had known! Neighbors didn’t either. Good thing to know before you need it.

Thanks again.
If like mine, each box is yours with two service valves one for house and other for sprinkler and does not share Service with the neighbors, just fyi.

The system has already been unplugged, still running

The owner unavailable, normally they would be my first call

A neighbor trying to help

I’m happy to just turn off water & wait for owner to handle, that was my initial question. Problem is we can’t find how to do that for irrigation only and leave house running.

Neighbor working in it, hopefully he can get irrigation water off

Keep suggestions coming. If anyone knows an irrigation guy I could contact please share that number
You can manually shut the valve off. It is on the top of the valve and see it that stops the flow. When this happened to me I just shut it off in the box for the meter.

Although the system is OFF zone 3 has been running since 4pm yesterday. Discovered this morning.
When running the zones manually zone 3 continues to run while 1, 2 or 4 are selected. It never stops, the others do.

I can’t find anything in electric panel that controls sprinkler system, neither garage breaker does.

Any names & numbers on who I can call?

Can irrigation water be turned off while leaving house water running? I don’t easily see a shut off valve.

Thanks
Unplug the controller in the garage.

This happened to our irrigation but all zones were running. Lighting hit a home 5 houses down. Traveling through the ground to our irrigation and fried the system. It was July 4th.

UNPLUG nor SHUTTING Down will turn off the system. We had to have the water shut off at the ground box. We were on VaCa and a neighbor stopped the third CC car to inform them the irrigation had been running for 7 hours.
Unfortunately due to 8 zones and lack of information on how to get water turned off, our irrigation bill was $982.

OUCH! Are you in an area like Marion County where they use potable water for irrigation hence irrigation and sewer bills tend to be much higher than areas like Sumter where there's a separate non potable water box/bill for irrigation.

FYI, $982 is about 138,000 gallons of irrigation water. It seems like the The Villages would have a way to monitor and shut off a customer before they use that much water.

I have heard good things about Joe Tucker. But if he doesn't offer ongoing maintenance agreements and is available for emergency repairs, why would I ever call him? When you have a leak, you need it fixed.

There is no monitoring of water usage, only the one reading per month. At *that* point they will notify a customer but the damage is already done.

What you suggest would be possible with the AMI meters that the District recently rejected. Even then, there would need to be software to notice an anomaly and some policy for when water might be shut off to a customer.

If that broken zone has been running all that time, no question you will be getting a very large irrigation water bill. When you complain to tell them what happened, they will tell you, you should have called to have them come out and turn off the water.

Default Grass dried up!

My Villager daughter had an out-of-state rental owner for a neighbor. They left the sprinkler OFF completely and the entire lawn dried up and became the object of neighborhood complaints. The owners were made to replace the entire lawn with new sod! I'm sure that was a very pricey lesson for them.

Default Irrigation won't shut off.

I had this same problem a couple of years ago...It turned out to be in the outside box with the purple cover that should be on the side of the house. That is the irrigation box and there are valves in there that the water can be turned off by turning the valve to the right. Hope this helps. The valve needs to be replaced.
