Default Lifestyle Visit?

Hi,
Probably been a topic beat to death...but....

Should we do Lifestyle visit, or private rental?

Pros and Cons?

Please direct if there is already a thread for this.

Thanks!

Definitely do the lifestyle preview plan for a week. This way, you don't have to hunt for a rental without knowing the various locations in and around TV and without having a lease in a place you don't really like; you are given some free golf and other amenities, and the price is unbeatable. May thru fall is $75/night (no extra taxes) for a 3BR-2bath home beautifully furnished, just a few blocks from Lake Sumter Landing. This helps you get oriented to TV.....so you know some areas where you'd like to rent for a longer period of time.....or buy after the 2nd day (yes, that happens).

Be sure to bring your checkbook.

Thank you very much, ilovetv, we are leaning that way for the reasons that you mentioned. (nice handle, btw!)

I think your first visit should be a LSV . You will get a whirlwind tour but will not be able to take it all in at once. Later on I would say to rent a home and venture out by yourself .... But as many tell you bring the checkbook !!!

Good Luck

I did a lifestyle visit, bought a lot and built within 3 months, so what do I know??? I would do the visit first, then rent if you are uncertain! And enjoy yourselves!

We did 2 lifestyle visits. The first time they put us up in a huge house at The Cottages at Lake Sumter Landing....they are not cottages and were so large that we were almost getting lost in it....the rooms were huge and echoed.....nice but not realistic for us. Did have wonderful dinners at various restaurants......no expense spared. The second time we requested a stay in a house in a real neighborhood, so that we could get a feel for what life would be like if we were to live here. And that clinched the deal. And no, we did not bring our checkbook. Impulse purchasing is not our forte. I remember when we put a down payment on a time share and it almost made us crazy until we got the refund.
And we have been here 5 years.

Default I agree!

I agree that for your first visit the Lifestyle is the way to go. We did and learned so much with what was provided. (We wondered why they included a calendar with the Rec News...and later laughed over that one! In our first month full-time here, we knew why a planner was needed!) We had no sales pressure at all, and everyone was so helpful during our visit. We had a blast. As we were leaving, I told our host that we'd never live here full-time, but I could see us coming here for a couple of months in the winter. We went back home, and 6 months later we were living here full-time... because we couldn't imagine life being so much fun anywhere else! Never say never!!

Good Luck and enjoy your visit! We think you're going to love it!

Default Thanks for the post

I really enjoyed evberone's responses. our sdtory is a little different. we just drove here from Kissimmee (where we we staying with my wife's mom) met with a Villages realtor. We were shown around and in 3 hours wanted to buy. On the plane ride home to NY the realtor has called to say the spec house was available and we had a short time to buy. We did and never regretted it
We've been happy here since 2005

A LSV for your first visit is the way to go!!!! Take the trolley tour to get a feel of how big TV is. Go the the squares to check out the entertainment. Talk to anyone and everyone. The sales agent won't bother you and you will have to contact them to look at avilable houses.

To bring a checkbook or not. If you don't, you can always use your credi card. If you bring it, you will likely buy something that you may never regret.
Either way, you win!!!!!!
