Default German Food?

Can anyone comment on the availability of German "gasthauses" and/or food stores (Brot / Brotchen) anywhere near TV? Enjoy all kinds of dining but may miss some of the food items we have become acustomed to in Europe. Thanks in advance - B. Johnson

I wish you luck.

If you become truly frustrated in your search, please send us a P.M. and stop over and we will give you some beer and pretzels.

We haven't found any German food on campus.

"near" is a relative word.
If you want to drive to Sanford (~50 mi), we ate at the following restaurant and thought it was good . . . http://www.willowtreecafe.com/

If you want to search further, visit the gourmet club website
http://thevillagesgourmetclub.home.c...lub/page3.html

"prosit"

I also love German food and found this restaurant in Ocala. I have not been there yet but will definitely check it out very soon. http://theschnitzelfactory.com/.

Cool

Moin, Moin! (ok, northern German thing .. )

We just go back to Germany, at least once per year, to get our fix ...

We have not been able to find, what we would consider, an international food store, where such items might be available. There might be something in the Orlando area, but we have not found it.

There is a German/American club in TV, although we have not joined it. I suspect they know of any places you are seeking. Here is their website:

http://www.thevillagesguide.com/the+...scher+club+in/

You might be able to contact them for more information....

Tschuss...

Guten Tag! Ich habe hunger, ja, ja!
I got so hungry the other night for german food that I made my 1st attempt at pork schnitzel (right down to the lemon and capers), braised red cabbage and spaetzel, mit ein bier! It turned out excellent and I wish I could download the picture. I made it during those rainy days we had last week. All part of my post-op therapy.
The Dinner Bell in Fruitland Park is supposed to be good but the menu didn't show any spaetzel, seemed a bit pricey and what good Deutsche Haus doesn't have spaetzel? There is also supposed to be a good place in Mt Dora, which is a town I want to visit more of.
If my menu sounds good, bring the ingredients over and I'll cook it up for you!

We went to the Schnitzel Factory a few weeks ago with friends that told us about it and really enjoyed it. Had wiener schnitzel, spaetzle, and potato salad, while others had the pork and sauerkraut, and all enjoyed. The prices were reasonable too.

We just got back from Germany and Switzerland and they have a way with schnitzel that I have not experienced here. Thanks for the tips because we will be searching out German foods too.

We're big fans of The Schnitzel Factory for lunch when we're in Ocala. Good food and very reasonable prices.

The Dinner Bell in Fruitland Park is just okay and somewhat expensive. We won't be going back.

They should change the picture - who wants to eat where the waitress has an earring on her tongue!

The Yalaha Bakery is great. Very small place maybe 6 tables. It's kind of like eating in a German kitchen. The pastries are the best! 40 minutes from here.
