Default Men’s Suits

Is there a good place to buy men’s suits close to the villages?

In my opinion, the best place to buy a suit is Lands End. You can buy the jacket and pants separately, and they will make the inseam any length you want. That makes it easy to get the correct fit. Their suits are high quality and are very similar to Brooks Brothers, only way cheaper.

If you only have 1 or 2 suits, I would recommend buying a charcoal or dark blue, all season wool suit. And get a waist size that is at least an inch or two larger than you usually wear for casual pants. It will still fit, and you won't grow out of it too soon. Just my opinion.

Lands End is an online store, unless you happen to be in Wisconsin. But, they are very easy to do business with, and it is easy to make returns. The problem with buying a suit in a store is that you will have difficulty finding something to fit. I don't know of any good clothing stores in the area. Good luck.

Dillards in Ocala or Macy's in Ocala. Macy's is in the Paddock Mall.

Honestly, for years now I’ve bought suits on eBay, often used. Buyer Beware, but I’ve had good success. This year I purchased four sport coats for a total of about $200, then had them dry cleaned. They look great and fit well without alterations. I’ve purchased beautiful Armani suits for ten cents on the dollar. (There’s a reason they cost several thousand new: pulling one on feels like a gentle hug.) Buying a tuxedo on eBay may cost no more than renting one, and it may be better quality.

But who wears suits here, anyway, except in caskets or maybe at funerals? I often wear sport coats and slacks at nice restaurants, but it isn’t usually required. Most guys don’t.

Where do the used designer suits come from? There are people who wear only designer suits, have half a dozen or more, and replace them every couple years so they will be in style. (No, Brooks Brothers are not designer suits.)

No. Jos. A Bank closed years ago - there is a moderate selection at Belks. Otherwise, definitely Dillard’s or Macy’s in Ocala!

Brooks Brothers in Orlando. Expensive but can get fitted and you will look well dressed for those special occasions. My grandfather bought suits at Brooks Brothers in New York City over a 100 years ago. I am going to a wedding soon and after exercising in the Villages the last 10+ years my one remaining suit is too big! I will be traveling down to Orlando soon.

If you are up for a trip to Orlando there is the Dillard's outlet at the West Oaks Mall in Ocoee. The drive is about 45 minutes from Eastport.

This location is where Dillard's consolidates their men's and woman's clothing when maybe there have just a few sizes left. The shoe department is similar. The shoes are on shelves but there may only be one size left--but if it is your size you get it at a huge discount.

The store is not like a regular store in that it groups all the clothing by size (at least in the men's section) so all the LARGE men's shirts will be on one huge rack.

The prices for these new clothes are incredible. A $75 polo shirt will be priced at $12. A $50 dress slacks for $15.00. Inventory changes regularly.

And--if you have the Dillard's credit AMEX they often offer other discounts. Check hours before you go because I do not think they open until noon and close around 7 PM.

Good luck.

you are correct nothing feels better then good clothes . I buy mostly Armani and Hugo Boss including jeans a sweaters ,but the last few years mostly Hugo Boss ,here in the villages when a little cooler I get a lot of use out of sport jackets and jeans and still wear suits ,with no ties a lot n Boston . But hot or cool I still wea a jacket at Sharon it’s fun to dress up , and I don care if people don’t know where my clothes are coming from because I do .I try to give clothes I don’t wear at all to some younger person who I find through word of mouth a younger person could use some nice clothes , they have to be young for my clothes at 5ft 6 135lbs lol middle 80’s and still shopping till I drop one of my only vices left
