Default Newbies in July

My husband and I are very excited to relocate to The Villages in July. We have so many different emotions because this will be the first time moving long distance (from PA), and we are leaving our family and friends behind. We are moving into a fully furnished home and may have "extra" furniture and household goods. What will we do with those extras? Any suggestions for selling or donating items???

Call one of the fine consignment shops like Neerly New or Bargains and Treasures.

I just want to welcome you and let you know that I know what a traumatic experience it is moving from your home location and leaving family and friends of many years. I also moved from Penn. in 1953 to Miami and never regretted it. I've been in TV 3 years now and it doesn't get any better than this.

Thanks! We were hoping to learn of those kinds of shops! Someone also suggested a garage sale!!! We usually don't have luck with those!!! It may be worth a try?

Wanted to welcome you as well. We will be joining you. As for garage sales, we had one this past weekend, and it was a huge amount of work for the amount of revenue. However, my DH rationalized it was a right of passage. The rest (or rather most) is going to several different charities. That beats dragging and paying to transport to TV. Nevertheless, we will be taking a few smaller items of value that no one came close to wanting to give us for those. I, too, heard garage sales do better in TV.

Welcome to The Villages. It will seem like home in no time at all. It can all be very exciting! I would suggest that you list the larger items for sale on Talk of the Villages. The smaller items of lower value you can donate to many charities in the area. I also believe that a garage sale is alot of work with small revenue. They are fun to go to though!

Thanks for the welcome, too!! Right back at you!! When are you planning on arriving in TV?
We are giving lots of stuff to charities in addition to trying auction places and consignments. We will still have lots left!! We may need to do the garage sale thing when we get to TV!

Thanks for the welcome!!We will definitely post some of our larger items on TOTV! We won't be going to any garage sales for awhile - no room! We may not be able to park our cars in the garage for awhile, but in time we hope we can really settle in to the TV life style!!! Thanks for the suggestion.

Our settlement date is July 19 for a house being build in the village of Fernandina. We first fell in love with TV over a year ago and plopped down money on a lot. That was so uncharacteristic of me, but so far I have no regrets. I'm just exhausted from cleaning out our home, packing up and dealing with buyer drama. Can't wait to arrive and settle down. Where did you say you were going to be living?

We are closing on July 18th for a CYV in Pennecamp and hope to be down a few days before hand. Good luck to all of the "newbies".
