Default DirectBuy

Hello Everybody,

Looks like my place is moving right along. The latest picture my salesman sent shows the new house with insulation all around and a roof above. They should meet the 13th of Nov. closing in Hemingway.
My question is has any body tried buying any furniture at DirectBuy?
Looks like they have a showroom in Sanford FL.

Direct Buy has proven itself to be a huge scam. Membership fee of close to $5000; very poor customer service with damaged furniture/appliances. I would suggest that you Google them and you will then see all of the complaints and law suits against them.

Went to one of their presentations in TV a year or so ago. Did a bunch of research and concluded they are probably the biggest rip-off East of the West Coast.

We just went to the showroom last Saturday (in So. Florida) to check it out....when I saw the operation I could tell it was going to be a scam, so we didn't even stay for the presentation.

A few months ago Consumer Reports did a brief article on them. Not too positive at all. Many of them are franchises and as others have mentioned, real high membership costs make it hard, if not impossible to save any money.

We attended a presentation in West Palm Beach last year. They turned us off right away when they wouldn't disclose the names of the vendors. Further, they insisted that we sign and pay close to $5,000 right on the spot, or we "wouldn't be invited back" for at least five years.

I also went to one of their presentations in their "showroom". You had to sit through a 30 minute or so presentation and at the very end they tell you that it will cost $5000 to join. And, their showroom was just a room full of pictures in three ring binders and pamphlets. My feeling was that it was not all on the up and up.

No personal experience with them myself - just horror stories from people I know and trust. I would avoid them. With all the furniture stores in and around TV, I would shop closer to home.

The showrooms are a waste of time. They basically have a Hugh collection of catalogs that you order from. You mist know what you want before you order. The prices are often lower that you will find in stores, but you have to pay for shipping. Sometimes the delivery is to their store and you have to pay an additional fee to have the item delivered to your home.
